April Birchbox

I like this box. It reminds me of Spring and my Grandma.

The card says, "There's a reason they call it spring. The fresh blooms and fresh air have put a bounce in our step, and we're thrilled to update our look (hello, new colors and trends). Even your Birchbox has gotten in on the fun: This month's box features an exclusive print designed by Rifle Paper Co. Founded by a genius husband-and-wife duo, the brand is known for its stunning illustrations and covetable stationary - we love them, and hope you do too!" The back of the card has a list of all the products in the box, and a description.

Clean Original Eau de Parfum: "This airy scent blends light fruits and florals for a freshly washed feeling. Spritz onto pulse points like wrists, neck, and behind the knees." I have had samples of this perfume before. It smells like laundry detergent. I can't make my mind up if I like it or not. At times it is a pleasant smell to me.

Not Soap, Radio Body Wash - Bathing with sharks: "This richly foaming cleanser has an energizing, beachy scent. Massage generously into damp skin, then rinse away - or add a dollop to your bath." It smells good to me. I will use this in the shower. I like using these kinds of body washes instead of bars of soap. I am still finishing all the Lush shower gels and Fortune Cookie body wash, but I can add this to the mix.

Paula's Choice RESIST 25% Vitamin C Spot Treatment: "This concentrated treatment fades dark spots, combats redness, and minimizes fine lines. At night, lightly pat onto dark spots and wrinkles. Wear SPF during the day." I have heard nothing but good things about this brand. I will try it out. I am skeptical about products like this because I'm not sure I see them working.

Jane Iredale Just Kissed Lip and Cheek Stain: "This multitasking, long-lasting color adjusts to your skin for a natural, customized shade. Glide onto lips. Dab onto cheeks and blend well." I like products like this. I will have to try it out. I think the shade is Forever Pink.

Real Chemistry Luminous 3-Minute Peel: "This acid-free peel gently exfoliates for instantly softer, smoother, brighter skin. Apply to clean face and massage to slough off dully, dry skin. Rinse away." I haven't exfoliated by face for a while. I probably should get back to doing that. Don't they say you should do it once a week? I can't remember.

This will be fun to experiment with these new products this month. It seems like the IPSY bag had more makeup in it, and the Birchbox had more skincare.

Winter Fragrances

These are my favorite fragrances for the Winter. I while back I researched which fragrant notes go with each season. For the Winter I found that pomegranate, vanilla bean, lemon, orange, cinnamon, cardamom, coconut, and gingerbread went with the season. These are the different perfumes, lotions, body washes, and body sprays I have for this season. It is fun for me to change my perfumes for each day and each season.

1. These are my body washes for Winter. I have Philosophy Pineapple Coconut, Lime Coconut, and Orange Coconut. They came in a set called "Going Coconuts!" I have Philosophy Candy Cane and Cinnamon Buns. They can also be used as bubble baths or shampoos.

2. I got these from the drugstore and Walmart. Bodycology Vanilla Cupcake Fragrance Mist, Body Fantasies Vanilla Longest Lasting Fragrance Body Spray, and Bodycology Brown Sugar Fragrance Mist. I think you can get the smaller bottles in bigger sizes, but I had never tried them before so I got them in small bottles. I think they also come in lotions. I really love the way these smell.

3. Philosophy Gingerbread Girl Body Lotion. This is a luxuriant lotion. It smells so nice. There is a cute saying on the front, "Sparkle, spice and everything nice, that's what gingerbread girls are made of. Sugar, icing traces and sweet smiling faces, that's what gingerbread girls are made of. Dressed for the snow with a rosy glow, that's what gingerbread girls are made of. Sparkling eyes and a delicious surprise, that's what gingerbread girls are made of."

4. Viva La Juicy by Juicy Couture is another perfume for the season. Then I have my samples from perfume boxes I've gotten in the mail. Juicy Couture the original, Atelier Cologne Vanille Insensee Cologne Absolue, Bvlgari Omnia Crystalline, MCMC Phoenix, and Harvey Prince Eau Flirt. They all have their own unique fragrance.

5. White Diamonds by Elizabeth Taylor, Curious by Britney Spears, Euphoria by Calvin Klein, Warm Cotten by Clean, Golden Delicious by DKNY, Lady Million by Paco Rabanne, and Angel by Thierry Mugler. I got these from Sephora and Rite Aid.

What are you wearing this Winter? Leave a comment!

Autumn Perfume

Well, even though it is still warm here in Oregon, the first day of Autumn has passed, so this is the time of year when it is getting colder and the leaves are starting to change colors. I forgot to wear one of my autumn scents today, so I'm going to start tomorrow. Some of the perfumes are also considered other seasons because of the different notes it has. I looked up which notes go with each season. What I have found for autumn was that the notes that "go" with autumn are sandalwood, musk, amber, and jasmine. This is my collection of perfume that go with autumn.

2. White Diamonds by Elizabeth Taylor
3. Forever by Mariah Carey

I collect my little sample vials and keep them in this pretty pencil pouch I found. It has silver sparkles on it. It's hard to see in the picture but they are little flowers and the blue is more of a Cinderella blue color.

Summer Perfume

I don't know about where you live, but where I live in Oregon it is still summer in September. We usually get "Indian Summers." I have organized my perfumes into the different seasons according to the notes in each fragrance. I researched what scents go with which seasons, and looked up the notes for each of my perfumes. I started to wear the perfume that goes with the summer season. I thought it might be interesting for someone. I don't own all of these perfumes. I have samples of a lot of them. I like the way all of them smell.

I also looked up where are good spots to place perfume on your body. It seems that the hot spots are the best places.
1. behind knees
2. wrists (don't rub them together)
3. chest
4. behind ears
5. insides of elbows
6. spritz in the air and walk through it, so your hair gets it
7. spray on hair brush
8. between breasts
9. neck

The best notes for the summer are:
1. rose
2. orange blossoms
3. raspberry
4. peach
5. honeysuckle
6. island flowers
7. sea salt

My summer perfume favorites:
1. UR for Women by Usher
2. White Diamonds by Elizabeth Taylor
3. Mariah Carey's Luscious Pink
4. Clean Warm Cotten
5. Dior Addict To Life
6. DKNY Golden Delicious
