June Favorites!

This was a good month for me. It is nice to have vacation now. I like how the weather has been mostly sunny here. I hate how the weather has such an effect on me, but I know that I am happier since the sun has been out. I hope you enjoy my June favorites. What were your favorites this month?

1. Equate Walmart Broad Spectrum SPF 50 Ultra Protection Sunscreen Lotion: The sunscreen I was using before was making my skin peel! I thought it was because I had a sunburn, but it didn't make sense. I decided to try a different sunblock, and I asked a lady I work with for a recommendation. She says she uses the Walmart brand, and that it was recommended by Consumer Reports as being one of the best sunblocks! I didn't believe her so I looked up Consumer Reports, and she was right! After using this my skin has not peeled, and I have not got a sunburn! It is inexpensive too!

2. Hawaiian Tropics Sheer Touch Lotion Sunscreen in Ultra Radiance SPF 30: I didn't really need this, but I heard this gives a glow to the skin and I thought that would be cool to try out. Also, it has the most beautiful scent! So when I put the Equate on, I will put this on top of it for the glow and the nice smell.

3. Essie Nail Lacquer in I'm Addicted: Essie's Summer Collection has about five neon colors. Everywhere I went most of them were sold out! I really wanted the green one, but the blue one looked pretty to me too. I had a picture of this on my hands, but I accidentally deleted it from my computer. I think this is the perfect summer color.

4. Rimmel Stay Matte Primer: I heard people talking about this on Youtube, so I finally caved in and bought it to see what all the hype was about. But this stuff really does keep my face matte! I was really impressed. I have tried a lot of primers, and this is a good one.

5. NYX Stay Matte But Not Flat Liquid Foundation in Ivory: I heard about this from macshadowcombos on Youtube. She said this goes on lighter than her skin, but then it blends in and it is a really great foundation. Even though I didn't need it, I was curious to try it. I usually don't have good luck with foundation. But this one is really good! It does look lighter than my skin, but blends in somehow. It helps make the skin matte, but it never looks cakey. This looks good applied with a wet sponge. The only bad thing, is it is very small. I don't know how long this stuff will last me.

6. Maybelline Dream Pure BB 8-in-1 Beauty Balm Skin Clearing Perfector: I tried the BB cream by Maybelline before and I didn't like it because I felt like it made my skin look too oily. This formula doesn't do that. It has 2% Salicylic Acid in it to help fight breakouts. This is what my dermatologist recommends for me, so I know this does work. If you are curious what the 8 things are this is what they are: 1. Clears acne. 2. Conceals imperfections. 3. Minimizes look of pores. 4. Reduces appearance of redness. 5. Adjusts to skin tone. 6. Hydrates and smoothes. 7. Enhances and clarifies. 8. 0% oils and lightweight feel. I think it does all that it claims to do. This makes a great primer if you want heavier coverage, just put a foundation over top. Sometimes a BB cream is nice when you want a lightweight foundation for the summertime.

7. L'Oreal Voluminous Million Lashes: I was using Maybelline The Rocket for a really long time, but I wasn't keeping track of how long I had been using it. I think it was past time and I needed to throw it out. This needs to be thrown out by September. I'm writing this down so I don't forget! I have extra mascaras that I wasn't using. I bought this mascara again because people on Youtube really raved about it. I didn't see what was so special about it. I used it like one time and then tossed it to the side. But this is actually a really great mascara! This might even be better than The Rocket! It gives a lot of volume to my lashes which is the most important thing to me.

8. Maybelline Fit Me Concealer: I have tried a lot of concealers. I am always on the hunt for the perfect one. Again, this is a purchase because of recommendations on Youtube. It is a light weight concealer, and it works perfectly under my eyes. I don't have really dark under eyes or bags, so I can get away with a light concealer. My Maybelline Dream Lumi Concealers are all done, so I'm using this one up now. I like the Dream Lumi Concealers better. But this one is good too. I don't think it has light reflecting particles in it. It is just a plain concealer.

9. Sephora Disney Storylook Palette in Cinderella: This was the first Storylook palette I got. It has really great quality eye shadows. I want to collect all three storybook palettes. The one I don't have is Jasmine from the Disney movie Alladin. There are a lot of dupes in these palettes for other high end makeup. I love the packaging.

10. Jordana Easyliner Retractable Pencil for Lips in Tawny: I heard about this through Youtube. Smlx0 uses it a lot. It matches my lips when they are blushing, so this is the perfect color for me. It is a neutral/natural mauve with very little pink or brown undertones. I got this at Walgreens. It is inexpensive.

11. Rimmel London Lasting Finish Blendable Powder Blush in 002 Mauve Cool: This is one of my favorite blushes! It looks very natural on the skin. It is a dupe for NARS Madly. This is a nude glowing blush. It is pinky-beige. I don't have any other blushes like this.

12. Elf Contouring Blush & Bronzing Cream in St. Lucia: This is the cream version of the popular powder duo. It is a copy of NARS Orgasm and Laguna. I already mentioned that in a monthly favorites. The thing I love about this is the cream bronzer. It is a dupe for the Chanel Bronze Universal. You put it on before you put on a powder bronzer, and it will last for a long time. It is a little dark for my skin tone, so I use a light hand. The cream blush is very pretty too.

I had a lot of favorite songs this month! I didn't realize it until I wrote them all down! Phew! I also enjoyed the music at Vacation Bible School "Wild Animals." I found some of the songs on Youtube. I am sore from doing all the dance moves that went along with it! I like the one where "your love spins me round and round."

And Field Day at the school I work with was so much fun for the kids! They blasted music that was kind of like exercise music. The PE teacher plays music when the kids are in the gym. He has great taste in music. I tried to note down all the songs on his cd, but I didn't get them all.

I hope you liked my June favorites!

May Favorites!

Favorite Movies

1. Heaven Is For Real: This is based on a true story about a little boy who said he went to heaven when he was having a serious operation and might have died. This is a drama. I usually don't like movies like this because I don't want to cry. Sometimes I feel like movies try to manipulate your emotions to get you to cry, and I don't appreciate that. I didn't cry in this movie, but be warned it might make you cry. Nobody believes the little boy. But he knows things that how could a four year old boy know? I don't want to give anything away. It is just a really good movie. I will see it again when it is available to rent. Greg Kinnear does an amazing job as the father. There is some great acting in this. And the little boy is so cute!

2. Blended: This is a romantic/comedy. This is perfect for a date. I thought it was really funny. I heard it didn't get good reviews, but normally Adam Sandler movies don't get good reviews. I love Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore. I like the other two movies they were in together. It starts off where they are on a blind date and it goes horrible wrong. Then somehow they both end up at a family vacation in Africa together with their children. There are a lot of funny characters. I thought it was a sweet movie.

Nail Favorites

1. Essie Nail Lacquer in Fashion Playground: I wore this color a lot this month. I just love the minty green color on the nails for some reason.

These are two different nail polishes, but they look very similar. The middle finger is lighter and it is limited edition. The one on the right is permanent and is a little darker.

2. Essie Nail Lacquer in Turquoise & Caicos: This may be a dupe for the Fashion Playground. You don't need both colors. The Turquoise & Caicos polish is a better quality nail polish. It isn't as streaky as Fashion Playground.

3. Beauty Secrets Non-Acetone Nail Polish Remover: You can't tell from the picture because it is laying side ways, but this is half way gone. I went to Sally's Beauty Supply Store, and asked what would be a good nail polish remover that wasn't hard on the nails, and they recommended one with out Acetone. Acetone is good to remove glitter nail polish, but if you are wearing regular polish it is good to use a non-acetone remover.

Hair Favorite

Aussie Catch the Wave Mousse + Leave-In Conditioner: This is a flexible hold. You put this in your hair when it is wet and scrunch the hair. If you have wavy hair like me, it will help make your hair wavy and leave it that way. I think this does a good job. This will get you beachy hair. I like to use a clipless wand and curl the hair when it is dry to add to the curly effect.

Skin Favorites

1. Freeman Facial Exfoliating Scrub Pink Grapefruit: I mentioned this in my May Empties post. I used a sample of this and I loved it. I couldn't find it in the stores, so I had to buy it online, but it was inexpensive. It has tiny beads to exfoliate, so it works really well, and I love the smell of Pink Grapefruit! This is very refreshing. I use it once a week to exfoliate my face.

2. Tree Hut Shea Sugar Body Scrub in Coconut and Lime: I heard that this was Elle Fowler's favorite body scrub. It smells very tropical and refreshing. I used this once a week to exfoliate my body. My skin feels so smooth! This didn't last very long. I would repurchase a scrub from Tree Hut. I ordered this from Ulta I think, but I saw you can buy Tree Hut from Fred Meyers. This is a good quality scrub.

Beauty Favorites

1. Hard Candy Blush Crush Baked Blush in Honeymoon: I mixed this with Wet 'n Wild Pearlescent Pink, which is a pigmented peachy-pink color. This adds a pink glow to it and it looks so pretty on the face. I liked this so much I used it several times, and I normally change my blush pretty often. Wet 'n Wild Pearlescent Pink is a dupe for NARS Orgasm and Hard Candy Honeymoon is a dupe for MAC's Shy Beauty Beauty Powder.

2. Benefit High Beam: This is a really pretty highlighter. I got a little sample size I think from my Benefit Advent Calendar. It isn't glittery, it just gives a natural glow to the face.

3. L'Oreal Colour Riche Eye Shadow in 839 Cupa Joe: This isn't very pigmented, but sometimes you don't really want the eyeshadows to be very pigmented on the eyes. This is a nice neutral palette.

4. NYX Butter Gloss in Maple Blondie: This is a really pretty coral lip gloss. It is very pigmented. It smells like cupcakes.

5. Pacifica Solar Complete Mineral Palette: I think this is a nice beach palette. It has 3 highlighters at the top. On the left is a blush and the right is a bronzer. Then there are six eyeshadows. It is an all natural palette. I ordered it off of Pacifica's website. The colors are really pretty.

6. Sephora Disney Storylook Ariel Palette: I really love my Sephora Cinderella palette, so I decided to get the Ariel and Jasmine palettes off of E-Bay. The Jasmine palette hasn't arrived yet. The Ariel palette has really great quality eyeshadows. And I like the Disney movies. I think the packaging is beautiful.

7. Revlon Super Lustrous Lip Gloss in Peach Petal: I don't think they make this anymore. This is a really pretty nude lip gloss. It is a dupe for NARS Turkish Delight.

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder Dupes!

I feel like I've been on a duping frenzy! I keep getting ideas for new dupe posts. I always keep track of dupes I find, but I don't always post them. A dupe is slang for duplicate. It is a product that is similar to another product, and hopefully it is cheaper. I don't know how close my dupes really are because I don't own any Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powders. They cost $35. You can find them here: Sephora. There is also a palette that comes with three powders and it includes "Incandescent Light." Temptalia did a review on it on her blog: http://www.temptalia.com/hourglass-ambient-lighting-palette-review-photos-swatches.

This isn't all the Ambient Powders. These are just the ones I have seen people use a lot and I have duped.

1. Diffused Light: Sephora describes this as "soft, warm pale yellow powder." My dupe is a cream product, Benefit's Watt's Up!

2. Dim Light: "neutral peach beige powder" My dupe is Wet 'n Wild Brûlée. This is bizarre because Wet 'n Wild Brûlée is only $1.99 at drugstores! It is an eye shadow, but I used it to dupe Dim Light!

3. Incandescent Light: "pearlescent powder" My dupe is I think dead on. Physicians Formula Mineral Glow Pearls in Translucent Pearl.

4. Luminous Light: "champagne pearl powder" My dupe is Elf Blush in Gotta Glow.

5. Radiant Light: "golden beige powder" My dupe is Wet 'n Wild Color Icon Bronzer in Reserve Your Cabana. People always wonder why this is considered a bronzer because it looks like pale powder, but one time I tried to use it all over my face as a powder and it was darker than my skin color! So I think it is kind of a joke. It is for people as pale as me who need to "reserve their cabana" because they are going to get a sunburn if they don't!

Those are the dupes I found. I hope you find this helpful if you don't to pay the extra money! Highlighters have been really popular it seems this last year.

Benefit World Famous Neutrals Palettes!

I got these for Christmas. I thought the packaging was so cute to begin with. The left palette is the Sexiest Nudes Ever, and she has a magic wand. The middle palette is the Most Glamorous Nudes Ever, and she has a deck of cards, maybe like Tarot cards. The right palette is the Easiest Nudes Ever, and she has a crystal ball. It is all like a gypsy, old fashioned circus, type theme. I know I like the brand Benefit, so I thought I would like these kits. I have seen people use the creaseless cream shadows, so I was curious to try them.

When you lay them on their sides they look like little books!

The Easiest Nudes Ever

Inside is a book of tips and tricks. When you open up the book there is a daytime look on the left and a play time look on the right. In the middle is a mirror. It comes with 2 creaseless cream eye shadows, and 4 powder eye shadows. The top left shadow is Call My Buff. The top right is Thanks A Latte. The bottom left is Pinky Swear. The bottom right is Quick, Look Busy.

These are the creaseless cream shadows. They remind me of the Maybelline Color Tattoos. The left one is R.S.V.P. The right one is No Pressure!

These are the looks that came in this palette. I'm going to list the directions, and write my review.

For the looks I mention in this post, these are the other products I used.

Mascara: Maybelline The Rocket Volum' Express Waterproof (top lashes), Maybelline Lash Discovery Mini-Brush Waterproof (bottom lashes)
Eye Primer: Milani Eyeshadow Primer
Face Primer: Neutrogena Shine Control Primer, Elf Mineral Face Primer
Setting Spray: Urban Decay De-Slick Oil-Control Makeup Setting Spray
Foundation: Revlon Colorstay Makeup for Normal/Dry Skin in Ivory
Concealer: Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circles Treatment Concealer in Brightener, Physicians Formula Nude Wear Touch of Glow Concealer
Powder: Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder in Translucent
Highlight: The Balm Cindy-Lou Manizer
Black Liquid Liner: Jordana Incolor Fabuliner Liquid Eye Liner in Black
Brown Eye Liner: Rimmel Scandal Eyes Waterproof Kohl Kajal Eyeliner in Brown

Daytime Tips
1. Base: Apply R.S.V.P. over eyelid.
2. Contour: Blend Thanks A Latte into crease.
3. Highlight: Sweep Call My Buff across brow bone.
4. Trick: Pat Call My Buff onto the center of eyelid for an eye-opening effect.
My Thoughts: R.S.V.P. isn't very pigmented. Thanks A Latte is a good shadow for in the crease. Call My Buff isn't pigmented at all. It doesn't show up on my eye. The overall effects is it looks like I have brown in my crease and that is all. I don't like this look. This is what I did to make the look better. I put L'Oreal Infallible Eye Shadow in Amber Rush on the lid. I put Wet 'n Wild Brûlée under the brows. I put L'Oreal Infallible Eye Shadow in Iced Latte in the inner corner. I put Wet 'n Wild Vanity, 3rd color as a liner for the top and bottom lashes. For cheeks I wore Sonia Kashuk Beautifying Blush in Flushed. It's a beautiful pink. I put it on the tops of my cheeks, my temples, forehead, nose, and chin. I am so pale I feel like it helps make my skin look healthier. I put on L'Oreal Colour Riche Lip Liner in All About Pink. I lined and filled in my lips to make my lipstick/lip gloss last long. For lip gloss I wore Revlon Super Lustrous Lip Gloss in Pinkissimo.

Playtime Tips
1. Base: Apply No Pressure! over eyelid.
2. Crease: Blend Quick, Look Busy into outer corner & into crease.
3. Highlight: Sweep Pinky Swear across brow bone and dab on inner corner.
4. Trick: For sultry definition, line upper lash line with Quick, Look Busy.
My Thoughts: I like No Pressure! It is a matte brown cream shadow. Quick, Look Busy is a nice dark matte brown for the crease. Pinky Swear is very pale. I can't see it. I like this look. For blush I wore Wet 'n Wild Pearlescent Pink. It is a peach pink. For lips I wore Maybelline Color Sensational High Shine Gloss in Almond Crush. It is a nude pink.

The Most Glamorous Nudes Ever

This comes just like the other palette, but some of the shadows are different. The top left color is Call My Buff. The top right color is Kiss Me, I'm Tipsy. The bottom left color is It's Complicated. The bottom right color is Gilt-y Pleasure.

The left shadow is Birthday Suit. The right shadow is My Two Cents.

Daytime Tips
1. Base: Apply Birthday Suit all over lid.
2. Accent: Pat It's Complicated on center of eyelid.
3. Highlight: Sweep Call My Buff across brow bone and dab on inner corner.
4. Trick: Shortcut…for an instant smoldering look, apply Birthday Suit on eyelid and blend up.
My Thoughts: I can barely see Birthday Suit, but the name implies a nude color so I'm probably not supposed to see it. I care barely see It's Complicated. Call My Buff is a good highlight color. Overall, I don't like this look. It looks like I have no makeup on. I am going to add to it. I'm putting Wet 'n Wild Vanity, 2nd color in my crease and lower lash line. I put Wet 'n Wild Walking on Eggshells, eyelid color on my eyelid. Since the eyes are warm, I'm going to wear pink on the cheeks and lips. For cheeks I wore NYX Rouge Cream Blush in Boho Chic. On top of that I put Physicians Formula Powder Palette Multi-Colored Custom Blush in Blondes. I put that on my cheeks, forehead, nose, and chin to give my face some color. For lips I wore NYX Butter Gloss in Merengue. This gloss smells like cupcakes! I love it! When I added these things to the look it became a really nice day time look.

Playtime Tips
1. Base: Apply My Two Cents all over lid.
2. Contour: Blend Kiss Me, I'm Tipsy into crease.
3. Highlight: Sweep Gilt-y Pleasure across brow bone and dab on inner corner.
4. Trick: To make lashes look fuller, smudge Kiss Me, I'm Tipsy into upper lash line.
My Thoughts: I like My Two Cents. It looks like the color of a penny. Kiss Me, I'm Tipsy is a nice, pigmented shadow. Gilt-y Pleasure isn't very pigmented, but that's ok since we're putting it on the brow bone. It's a gold. I like this look. It is mainly brown on the eye. I'm going to wear pink for blush and lips. I wore NYX Rouge Cream Blush in Boho Chic. On top of that I put Physicians Formula Powder Palette Multi-Colored Custom Blush in Blondes. I wore Rimmel's Airy Fairy Lipstick and Marvelous Moxie Lip Gloss in Head Turner. This lip gloss smells like sweet mint.

The Sexiest Nudes Ever

The top left color is Milk It! The top right color is Raincheck? The bottom left color is Pause for Applause. The bottom right color is Blingo!

The left color is Bikini-tini. The right color is Holy Smokes!

Daytime Tips
1. Base: Apply Bikini-tini over eyelid.
2. Contour: Blend Raincheck? into crease.
3. Highlight: Sweep Pause for Applause across brow bone and dab on inner corner.
4. Trick: Starting at inner corner, line bottom lashes with bikini-tini to add youthful allure.
My Thoughts: Bikini-tini is so light I can hardly see it. Raincheck? is a nice eggplant color. Pause for Applause is a very light pink. I can barely see it. The only shadow that you can see is Raincheck? I don't really like this look. Because the eggplant color is on the cool side of the color family I chose to wear a peach blush. I wore Physicians Formula Powder Palette Multi-Colored Custom Blush in Brunettes. I put that on my cheeks, temples, forehead, nose, and chin. For lips I wore Kardashian Beauty Lip Plumping Summer Gloss in Revved Up Rose Gold. It is a "my lips but better" lip gloss.

Playtime Tips
1. Base: Apply Holy Smokes! over eyelid.
2. Accent: Pat Blingo! on center of eyelid and on inner corner.
3. Highlight: Sweep Milk It! across brow bone.
4. Trick: Blend Blingo! over Holy Smokes! for a metallic, smoky effect.
My Thoughts: I like this look. All the shadows are pigmented. It is a gray/silver/white eye look. Since the eyes are cool I'm going to wear warm colors on the cheeks and lips.  I wore Physicians Formula Powder Palette Multi-Colored Custom Blush in Brunettes. I put that on my cheeks, temples, forehead, nose, and chin. For lips I wore Revlon Lipstick in Peach.

Overall Review: It seems like there were some shadows that I liked, but some weren't good in my opinion. If I could do it all over again, I wouldn't have bought these palettes. I was a sucker for the cute packaging. Hopefully, I will still find use for the shadows that were good. You can get these shadows separately. The cream shadows I thought were a lot like the Maybelline Color Tattoos, but the Maybelline Color Tattoos are a lot better, cheaper, and you can find them in almost any drugstore.

I found other looks using these palettes on Youtube. These are the ones I liked.

For the lips I wore Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Pink in the Afternoon and Revlon Super Lustrous Lip Gloss in Pinkissimo. I think pinks look good with warm eyes. Be careful with the Elf HD Blush! A little goes a long way!
