I don't have any new TV or movie favorites this month. I'm still watching the same shows I already talked about.
I have some new hair products I've been loving. I got inspired by PiinkSparkles blow drying routine video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U4XwzVw67QI. She has long, healthy hair, so I got a couple of things she mentioned in her video, and I've been drying my hair the same way as her. I think my hair has been looking healthy.
1. Herbal Essences Rose Shampoo and Conditioner: I used to use this back when I was in high school! I loved it then, and I still love it. It makes my hair have lots of volume, and the smell is of roses.
2. Label M Protein Spray: I never knew that you lose protein in your hair when you brush it, get it wet, or use heat on it. It is good to spray the protein back into the hair. I found this from a store online. I learned about it from PiinkSparkles video. After you towel dry your hair, you spray this in and after you blow dry, you spray it in.
3. Organix Coconut Milk Split Ends Mender: Before you blow dry your hair you put this on the ends of your hair. It has coconut milk, whipped egg white proteins, and coconut oils to help nourish the hair and give strength.
4. Elf High Definition Powder in Corrective Yellow: I heard this was a dupe for the banana powder the Kim Kardashian uses under her eyes. I don't think it is a dupe, but it is a finely milled powder that works great. I was putting it under my eyes, but I found it worked good all over the face. It is in yellow to correct redness on the face. If you put to much powder on you can spray your face with the Elf Setting Spray, and that will get rid of any extra powder.
5. Elf Powder Brush: I like to use this brush with the powder. It is only $3. Elf isn't very expensive.
6. Tweezerman Eye Lash Curler: I always use this, but I've never put it in a favorite. You can get this at the drugstore. It works the best on my eyes and lashes. It fits nicely, and does the curl. It is also inexpensive.
7. Stila In the Garden Palette: I've been playing with this palette a lot this month. It has some really pretty shades in it. I like these Stila palettes. I plan on doing more blog posts with them.
8. L'Oreal Colour Riche Gold Dust Textured Nail Polish in Too Dimensional: My friend said this looked to her like A Starry Night by Van Gogh. It has that same blue that is in the painting and large flecks of gold glitter. I saw this on someone's blog and I went out to go get it. It's in the limited edition collection.
9. Essie Nail Lacquer in Hors d'Oeuvres: This is a beautiful glittery nail with flecks of silver and gold. I don't have any other nail polish like it. I saw someone with this nail polish and I thought it looked really pretty. This is from a limited edition collection too.
10. Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Pink Pout: I have mentioned this in the yearly favorites, but never in a monthly post. This is a matte light pink color. I heard it is a dupe for MAC's Angel.
11. Rimmel Scandal Eyes Waterproof Kohl Kajal Eyeliner in Black: This goes on the waterline, and is a pencil you can sharpen. I like that better than the twist up kind. You can smudge it out, too.
12. Benefit Watt's Up: This is a pretty, golden, champagne cream highlighter. It's a sample size. It looks like a natural highlight for the face.

Stila In the Garden Palette Looks
I got this palette for my birthday in September! I am just now starting to play with it. I have already done a post on Stila In the Light palette. That palette is so beautiful. I reach for it whenever I don't know what look to do. I know I can count on beautiful shades that inspire me. I have a feeling my In the Garden palette will be the same.
I like this palette because it came with a look book. It has six looks in it. I also found looks on Youtube that I like, so I will include those as well.
If you want to see swatches of these eyeshadows this is a good blog post: http://www.scrangie.com/2012/02/stila-in-garden-eye-shadow-palette.html
These are the products I used for just about each look.
Eyeshadow Primer: Milani Eyeshadow Primer
Mascara: Benefit Bad Gal Lash (top lashes), Maybelline Lash Discovery Mini-Brush Waterproof in Very Black (bottom lashes)
Face Primer: Benefit Porefessional Primer
Foundation: Revlon Colorstay Foundation for Normal/Dry Skin in Ivory
Powder: Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder in Translucent, Elf High Definition Powder in Corrective Yellow
Concealer: Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circles Treatment Concealer in Brightener
Black Liquid Liner: Jordana Incolor Fabuliner Liquid Eye Liner in Black
These are the looks that came with the palette. I will say what the looks are, what I added, and then my overall opinion.
1. Captivating Eye
a. Apply Chinois to lid and blend to brow bone.
b. Apply Honey to lid and crease.
c. Apply Moss to lash line and diffuse. I used a pencil brush and smudged it to my top lashes.
d. Apply Smudge Stick Waterproof Eye Liner in Starfish to upper lash line and outside corner of bottom lash line. This eye liner came with the palette.
I consider this a warm eye because of the gold, so I use cool tones for the cheeks and lips.
e. Blush: Physicians Formula Happy Booster Blush in Pink
f. Lips: NYX Lip Gloss in Beige (This is really a pink, not a beige color.)
My Thoughts: I think this is a beautiful look. Chinois is a matte creamy white that blended into my skin tone. It made a good base. Honey is a gold color on the lid. It has good pigmentation. Moss is a dark olive green with shimmer. It looked good going over the gold. Stila Eye Liner in Starfish is a rich black with green and gold sparkle. This is an easy look to do.
2. Garden Soiree
a. Apply Nectar to crease and blend upwards.
b. Apply Sage to lid and blend into crease.
c. Apply Moss to lid.
d. Wet brush and apply Juniper to upper and lower lash lines. You could use water, MAC Fix Plus, Elf Setting Spray, or and Urban Decay Setting Spray. I used Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray.
My Thoughts: This is a green eye look. I think it looks good with my coloring. I think green looks good with hazel eyes and red hair. Since green is a cool color, I chose to wear a peach blush and lip gloss. For blush I chose my favorite: Milani Baked Blush in Luminoso. For lip gloss I chose another of my favorites: Buxom Lip Gloss in Creamsicle. It turned out to be a really pretty look.
3. Simply Romantic
a. Apply Chinois from lash line to brow bone.
b. Apply Breeze all over lid and blend upwards.
c. Apply Bark to crease and blend to contour.
d. Apply a thin layer of Smudge Stick Waterproof Eye Liner in Starfish to upper lash line. (The liner comes with the palette.)
My Thoughts: This looks like a light green, day time look. There is nothing on the lower lash line. Since the eyes are cool toned, I wore a warm toned blush and lipstick. For blush I wore Physicians Formula Happy Booster Blush in Warm. For the lips I wore Rimmel Show Off Lip Lacquer in Luna. I think it does look romantic.
4. Enchanted Eye
a. Apply Chinois to brow bone.
b. Apply Breeze to crease and blend.
c. Apply Rosette to lash line, lid and blend.
d. Apply Freesia to lash line and contour towards crease.
My Thoughts: This look is dark pink and purple. Again, there is nothing on the lower lash line, so it makes it seem like a day time look to me. The eyes are cool toned, so I wore a warm toned blush and lipstick. For blush again I wore Physicians Formula Happy Booster Blush in Warm. It's one of my favorite blushes. For the lips I wore Jordana Twist & Shine Moisturizing Balm Stain in Candied Coral. This is really bright. I wasn't sure I would like pink on the eye, but the blue/purple color helps make it more wearable to me.
5. Shimmer & Glow
a. Apply Nectar from lash line to brow bone.
b. Apply Honey from lash line to lid, blending up into the crease.
c. Gently apply Breeze to the center of the lid.
d. Apply Moss to the lash line and blend out.
My Thoughts: This is a golden eye look, with dark green on the lash line. I wore a pink blush and lip color with this. I wore Physicians Formula Happy Booster Blush in Pink. For the lips I wore L'Oreal Colour Riche Extraordinary Lip Color in Rose Melody. This is a hybrid between a lip gloss and lipstick. It feels really good on the lips. It's a pretty color too.
6. Eye Catching
a. Apply Nectar from crease to brow bone.
b. Apply Breeze from lash line to lid and blend.
c. Apply Bark to crease and outer corner of eye.
d. Wet liner brush and apply Freesia to lash line, carefully extending the line past up the eye.
My Thoughts: This is the only look in the look book I didn't like very much. It's not terrible. I don't like the blue liner color. I don't think it goes with the other shadows on the lid. I think there were cool colors on the eye, so I wore Physicians Formula Happy Booster Blush in Warm on the cheeks. I didn't do warm on the lips because I wasn't thinking. I just like the lips I wore the other day, L'Oreal Colour Riche Extraordinary Lip Color in Rose Melody. This look is just ok to me.
These are the looks I found on Youtube that I liked.
7. Look & Review Stila In the Garden Palette by macshadowcombos http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8TKBfYVYScw

8. Tutorial: In the Garden *Green and Gold Makeup* by xxmakeupiscoolxx http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fxTJQOihoc8

g. Eye Liner, upper lash line: Stila Smudge Stick Waterproof Eye Liner in Starfish
h. Mascara
i. Face Primer

My Thoughts: She didn't say what blush or lipstick she was wearing, so I decided to wear a warm toned blush and lip gloss. The blush is Milani Baked Blush in Luminoso. The lip gloss is Revlon Super Lustrous Lip Gloss in Peach Pango. The eyes are green with gold in the crease. It is a very simple look to do. The gold and green look good together.
9. Moonlit Garden Makeup Tutorial by xoMakeupBySarahxo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6lfH-l_ecM8
a. Eye Primer
b. Revlon Illuminance Cream Eye Shadows in Moonlit Jewels, champagne color at far right, eyelid

m. Moonlit Jewels, blue color, lower lash line, not the inner part
n. Same Palette, champagne, inner lower lash line
o. Stila Freesia, over blue on lower lash line
p. Honey, over champagne on lower lash line
q. Stila Smudge Stick Waterproof Eye Liner in Starfish, top lash line, tightline, waterline
r. Smudge liner on top line
s. Black Liquid Liner, start in the middle of the top lash line, and wing it out
t. Chinois, tearduct
u. Honey, tearduct
v. Chinois, under brow
w. Mascara
x. Concealer
y. Powder
z. Revlon Eye and Cheek Tint in Bronze, use as a blush: I skipped this step.
a. Hard Candy Fox in a Box Blush in Spicy & Sweet
b. Hard Candy Eye Shadow Duo in Peace, champagne color as highlight on top of cheekbones: Benefit Watt's Up!
c. Jordana Lip Liner in Tawny
d. Revlon Lip Butter in Creme Brûlée
e. NYX Mega Shine Lip Gloss in Baby Rose: I skipped this step because Creme Brulee is glossy on its own.
My Thoughts: At first I felt like I wasn't doing it right because I wasn't watching the video while I did the look. I felt like there were too many colors on the eye. I felt like a clown. Then I went in and made some fixes. Make sure the lower lash line is thin. I used makeup remover and a q-tip to thin the line. It doesn't look good with a thick line of blue under half the eye. Blend out the honey in the tear duct. This was my first time using Hard Candy Fox in a Box Spicy & Sweet. It is very pigmented, so wipe off your brush. It is very beautiful. I would say it's a bright pinky peach color. The eyes are very colorful, and the lips are nude. When I was done with the makeup I liked it. It's a different look for me, so at first I didn't know what to think. You have to have enough time to put it on. There are a lot of steps, but it wasn't hard. It just takes a while.
Overall, I love this palette! The thing I didn't like was the eye liner that comes with it. I might have gotten a bad one because it doesn't twist up! I only used it a few times, but I'm going to have to throw it away because it's a flat top now, and can't be used. I really liked the color of it. I hope the eyeliners in the other palettes aren't that way. I wish it was able to sharpen.

January Empties
I just accumulate the empty products until I reach 10, and then I do a blog post about it. This doesn't mean I did it all in January. It's just January is the time I reached 10. Some of the products I mentioned, I didn't like so I'm ready to throw them out before they are empty.
1. It's a 10 Miracle Leave-In Product: These are the 10 things it is said to do: 1. Repairs dry, damaged hair. (I don't have dry, damaged hair, so I don't know if this is true.) 2. Adds shine. (I don't notice shine.) 3. Detangles. (It doesn't detangle as good as my Suave Detangler for Kids that I like to use.) 4. Controls frizz. (I still have frizz.) 5. Seals & protects hair color. (I don't color my hair.) 6. Prevents split ends. (I don't have split ends, so I don't know if this is true.) 7. Stops hair breakage. (My hair still breaks.) 8. Creates silkiness. (I haven't noticed this.) 9. Enhances natural body. (I haven't noticed this either.) 10. Flat iron spray & thermal protector. (I hope that this works!) So in the end I wasn't too excited about this product. I felt like everybody loves this product, but I don't see what is so great about it. I did repurchase this however because someone who I love on Youtube who does hair tutorials uses this, and I want to do the look she did. After I tried the look, I haven't used the product since.
2. Bath & Body Works Body Lotion in Warm Vanilla Sugar: I got this as a Christmas present in 2012. I love the smell! When I want to smell good, I put this lotion on. It is a very comforting smell. I would repurchase this, but I already have tons of body lotions that I need to use up. I really recommend this!
3. Milani Eyeshadow Primer: I love this! It is inexpensive, and it lasts a long time. I think it works better on me than the Urban Decay Primer Potion and the Too Faced Shadow Insurance! I repurchased this.
4. Ardell Sculpting Gel for Eyebrows: This lasted a long time, and it was good. I would repurchase this again, but I wanted to try something new.
5. Benefit They're Real! Mascara: This lasted me the full 3 months, as long as you would hope for a mascara to last. I heard that after 3 months you have to throw it out. I really loved this mascara. I wouldn't buy it because I have found mascaras that are cheaper that I liked just as well. I do recommend this one though. It makes it look like you are wearing false lashes!
6. Milani Sparkling Mascara Top Coat in Bronze Glare: I got this to dupe the Chanel bronze glitter top coat mascara but this hardly works. The glitter doesn't come on to the lashes! I don't know if I just got a bad tube or if it's just bad. It was limited edition, and it came also in gold and silver. This would have been pretty. It's all dried up.
7. Philosophy Ice Cream Man Shampoo, Shower Gel & Bubble Bath: I got this at TJ Max for $5.99. I don't know if this was limited edition. This stuff smelled so good. It smells like vanilla. I love that smell. I used it for a bubble bath, and in my loofah as a shower gel. I used this up too fast. I don't think I can repurchase this. I would if it was available. Still, I have a lot of shower gels to use up.
8. Philosophy Vanilla Birthday Cake Shampoo, Shower Gel & Bubble Bath: I got this at TJ Max too. You can find a lot of Philosophy products on sale at TJ Max. I have had this before, and I knew I loved it. Again, it smells like vanilla, and it is so sweet. The smell isn't very strong. I think this is a permanent item. I would repurchase this, but I have a lot of shower gels to get through first. This would make a good gift.
9. Benefit Total Moisture Facial Cream: I got this in my Benefit Advent Calendar. I love this stuff! The only thing I don't like is there is no SPF. I wouldn't repurchase this because it is expensive, and I feel like my drugstore lotions works just as good as the high end. If you have the money and are willing to spend it, I recommend this lotion. It smells like oranges too. It's a really nice fragrance.
10. Philosophy Peaches and Cream Shampoo, Shower Gel & Bubble Bath: I might have gotten this at TJ Max. I can't remember. I got this in a kit that had this, a lotion and a lip gloss all in peaches and cream. This stuff makes you smell like a peach! I would repurchase this and recommend it. I don't know if this was limited edition or not. I would have to check the website. Philosophy products make great gift sets. I give them as gifts a lot and people seem to like them. I know I like having them.

Winter Looks 2014
I love pictures of snow. I hope it snows this year! I don't like to drive in the snow, but it is pretty to look at. A lot of the winter looks are inspired by snowy/cold weather. I think the autumn looks are more suited for my coloring, but it is fun to try something new and change your look with the season. I've noticed a lot of grey, blue, and white on the eyes. The lips are usually red. I hope you like the looks I picked out to dupe. I only mention the looks that I personally liked, and thought looked good on me. I know just because a look looks good on me, doesn't mean it will look good on you, but I consider myself the guinea pig to trying the looks. I only have myself to work with. Some of the looks I found are old, meaning they were created at least one year ago or more.
These are the products I used often. I didn't mention them in the looks themselves because I feel like these are things that you use what you have. You don't have to use what they used or what I use. If you want recommendations, you can look at what I like to use, that's why I include them here.
Concealer: Maybelline Dream Lumi Touch Highlighting Concealer in Ivory, Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circles Treatment Concealer in Brightener
Bronzer: Maybelline Dream Sun Bronzing Powder in Matte Light
Eye Shadow Primer: Milani Eyeshadow Primer
Mascara: Benefit Bad Gal Lash (top lashes), Maybelline Lash Discovery Mini-Brush Waterproof in Very Black (bottom lashes)
Black Liquid Liner: Jordana Incolor Fabuliner Liquid Eye Liner in Black
Face Primer: Benefit Porefessional Primer
Foundation: Revlon Colorstay Foundation for Normal/Dry Skin in Ivory
Powder: Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder in Translucent, Elf High Definition Powder in Corrective Yellow
Lip Balm: Maybelline Baby Lips in Quenched
Black Eye Liner: Benefit Bad Gal Waterproof Eye Liner in Black, Rimmel Scandal Eyes Waterproof Kohl Kajal Eyeliner in Black
Nude Eye Liner: Rimmel Scandal Eyes Waterproof Kohl Kajal Eyeliner in Nude
White Eye Liner: NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk
Eyebrows: Milani Brow Fix Brow Kit in Light
Black Gel Eye Liner: Essence Gel Liner in Midnight in Paris
These are 10 looks I found on Youtube that I recreated and wanted to share with you. I thought these were pretty, winter looks. I list first what they used, then where they put it on their face, and then I say what I used to duplicate the look. Often if they use high end, I will use an inexpensive alternative. I'm using what I already have in my makeup collection. You can use something similar in your collection. If there is nothing listed, it means I am using the same product the Youtuber is using or it means I've already said what I used to dupe the makeup, and I don't want to repeat myself. I hope it isn't confusing. At the end of the look I say my overall opinion of the look, I try to describe what it looks like, and my experience creating the look.

p. Rimmel Lip Liner in East End Snob
q. MAC Lipstick in Snob: Revlon Lipstick in Primrose
r. MAC Lipstick in Double Spin: Revlon Lip Butter in Sugar Frosting
My Thoughts: The eyes look like a smokey dark purple, the cheeks and lips are pink. I think this looks like a pretty wintertime makeup. At first I didn't think it looked right on me, but I finished putting on the makeup, and the look came together in the end. It is very cool toned.
4. GRWM & OOTN: Natural at Winter Night by cosmeticcouturier http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ozgaw1ct0cc

b. Same Palette, Night Cap, crease, outer corner: Wet 'n Wild Vanity, 2nd color
c. Same Palette, Cocoa Star, outer lid, outer crease, blend it out: Wet 'n Wild Vanity, 3rd color
d. White Eye Liner, waterline

j. Tarte Maracuja Airbrush Blush in Shimmering Peach: Maybelline Dream Bouncy Blush in Peach Satin
k. Illamasqua Lipstick in Climax: Revlon Colorburst in Soft Rose
My Thoughts: Don't forget mascara! If you missed out on the Wet 'n Wild Vanity, Too Faced Natural at Night could be a dupe for it. You would get 6 other colors besides the three in the Vanity palette, and a dupe for Stila's Kitten. I like this look because it suits my warm coloring. Some people say the Maybelline Dream Bouncy blushes aren't very pigmented, but the one I have works fine. Maybe it's because I'm so pale. The Soft Rose lipstick is perfect for my lips. It's a MLBB color (my lips but better). GRWM stands for get ready with me and OOTN stands for outfit of the night. She wore this for a night out, but I think it also works for daytime.

k. Top Shop Lip Cream in Daze: Bonnebell Lip Lites in Strawberry Parfait
My Thoughts: She didn't say what blush she was wearing, if she was wearing blush. I'm going to match the cheeks to the lips with pink. I'm using Physicians Formula Happy Booster Blush in Pink. I find I need to wear blush. I look too pale without it. The look is really elegant.

My Thoughts: The eyes are blue and smoky with glitter in the middle. The Balm Hot Mama is beautiful! It's my first time using this. It is a peachy pink with golden shimmer. I love the lip liner in Bark. It is a MLBB lip liner. I think the mauve lip gloss looks pretty next to the navy blue eyes. This is a different look for me to wear, but I like it.

My 2014 New Year's Resolutions!
This is an interesting activity for me to do this year because last year I blogged my New Year's Resolutions for 2013. I can look back and see how well I did. I also want to make new resolutions for this year.
Looking Back at 2013
These were my resolutions last year. Let's see how well I did.
1. Lose Weight: I really struggle with losing weight. I did Jenny Craig for a long time. I decided to quit, and do a hypnosis program instead. That failed miserably. I don't know if the program failed or I failed, maybe a little of both. After quitting that program, I think I rebelled and decided to eat whatever I wanted. I'm scared to look at the scale now. I'm sure that I've gained weight. I'm still in the same clothing size. I know that because my clothes still fit! Instead of losing weight, I think I gained it!
2. Drink More Water: I think I did a good job with this. I made drinking water a habit. I'm at the point now where I crave water instead of soft drinks. I drink water all day long. I got a cute cup to keep in the car, and have water while I'm driving. I notice I get thirsty in the car.
3. Read the Bible: I think I get a B in this area. I decided to bring my Bible to work with me and read it during my break, and that has been a great routine for me to keep it a habit. It makes me focus on what is important during the day, and gives me motivation and encouragement. For example, I could be having a grumpy day and just getting through the day, but then when my break comes I read my Bible and it encourages me to love people. I get motivated to do this, and I think of how I can be more loving while I'm working.
4. Playing the Violin: This is sort of sad. I found out why I have so much pain. I actually have arthritis in my neck. I went to a lot of doctors, and the final verdict was for me to go back to physical therapy, and if that doesn't work, they would give me shots in the back of my neck. I found out that it would be very expensive to go to physical therapy and this second time my insurance would pay none of it. I decided to just stop playing the violin, and that way I am pain free. It is sad to give it up because I enjoyed playing the violin, but I didn't enjoy the pain.
These are my resolutions for this year!
1. Lose Weight: I want to lose weight, but I'm not joining any programs or diets. I also don't want to weigh myself. I will keep track of my weight by my clothing size. To lose weight I have some habits I want to incorporate into my life, and habits I want to break. I don't want to eat anymore Safeway cake! I have weakness for this vanilla cake. It is so unhealthy for me. I eat this cake almost every day! I think I could lose weight if I just cut it out of my diet. Also, I read in a magazine that someone lost weight by just cutting in half everything they ate, and eating only half of it. I think I could do that. I eat very large portions. I could eat half of it, and not feel like I'm starving. I would probably loose the stuffed feeling I normally get from food. I'm also going to continue to drink water instead of soft drinks. I think I've made this into a habit, but I want to keep it up.
2. Keep a Journal: I have this really cool journal that I got last year. It is called, "Q & A a Day." It has a question every day, and space to write for 5 years! What is cool is you can see how your answers to the questions stay the same or change every year, and you can see how you have changed or stayed the same as a person. It is also really easy to write in it because they give you a question to focus on. I did a good job for about half the year last year writing in it, but then I went on vacation and brought the journal with me. I never unpacked it when I got home, so I went months without writing in it. I dug it out, and am back answering it every day. I want to do this every day and make it a habit.
3. Read the Bible: I want to continue to read the Bible every day. For Christmas I got a devotional called, "Streams in the Desert" by L.B. Cowman. It is really well written and inspiring. It has a little bit of reading for each day. I also want to continue reading the Bible passages the pastor has for each day, and I've been reading in "Our Daily Bread," which is a devotional that has you read a passage from the Bible and then a little page of devotion to go with it. I want to read a little more of the Bible this year, than I did last year. It makes me feel good to read it, and I feel like it renews and clears up my head.
4. Save Money: I thought of this after I posted this blog post. I want to save my money this year, and not spend it all the time. I wrote down how much money I have in the bank, so I can see if I have more money this time next year.
I hope you enjoyed this blog post! What are your New Year's Resolutions? Are you going to make them? Leave a comment below!
