August IPSY Bag

This is what I got in this month's IPSY Bag.

1. Batiste Dry Shampoo: I looked up online each product to see what it said on the IPSY website, since it doesn't come with a card. This is what the website said: "Batiste Dry Shampoo is the #1 dry shampoo in the UK. Why? Because it revitalizes your hair, leaving it feeling clean and smelling fresh, so your style lasts longer between washes. We all wake up sometimes, look in the mirror, and know that our hair needs a little pick me up. This dry shampoo offers an instant fix by removing excess oil and grease while adding body and texture to your locks." I don't use dry shampoo. I'm going to give this to my mom.

2. Jesse's Girl Eye Shadow Primer: "Your eyes, like an artist's canvas, require a primer for best results from your vibrant color palette. Jesse's Girl Eye Shadow Primer provides a silky, crease proof base for smoother application and long lasting color." I like to use the Milani Eye Shadow Primer. I will try this out and see how I like it.

3. Starlooks Luxe Longwear Eye Liner Pen: "This liner is a staple product for every makeup lover, this felt tipped pen makes it impeccably easy to create flawless eye lines of any variety. Whether daily, nightly, or anytime in between, Starlooks Eye Liner Pen enhances all eye colors, shapes, and sizes with its exclusive, incomparable Pro formula! Available in black, which is universally flattering for all complexions. Applies smoothly, dries quickly, and lasts all day (or night) long!" I already have black liquid liner that I like. I will just add this to my collection.

4. Lord & Berry Ultimate Lipcolor and Liner in Nude: "This ultimate lipliner is the original Lord & Berry lip pencil. It's easy-to-use and its formula softens and protects the skin with the nutrients from macadamia oil and waterlily extracts. You can line your lips and fill them in using this pencil-finish with a lipgloss or lipstick for a more dramatic look." This looks like a brown lip liner. I think it is is too brown for me.

Hikari Cosmetics Lip Gloss in Salsa: "Check out Hikari's collection of gorgeous, high-shine matte lip glosses. With these high-pigment lip glosses you can wear them alone or layer them over your favorite lipstick to create intense new colors. They will give you the perfect sultry lip with just the right amount of shine!" This is a very pigmented red lip gloss.

To be honest I'm not that thrilled about this month's IPSY bag. I'm starting to wonder if I should have signed up for this bag. I remember feeling this way the last time I subscribed to IPSY. There is nothing in the samples that excite me.

August Birchbox

This is what I got this month from Birchbox. The card says, "Soak it up! As summer peaks (temp-wise and watermelon-consumption-wise), we're taking advantage of every last minute. That means embracing air-dried hair, ensuring our skincare is SPF-heavy and keeping our makeup minimal. We hope you love this month's samples, and can't wait to see how you use them! Here's to making the most of summer's last gasp, Team Birchbox."

1. Oribe Apres Beach Wave and Shine Spray: "This spritz delivers beachy, texturized waves plus, it hydrates summer dry hair and boosts shine." I don't like to blow dry my hair. If I could I would always air dry my hair and it comes out looking fabulous. I'm always looking for hair products that will let me do that.

2. Shea Terra Organics Rose Hips Black Soap Deep Pore Facial Cleanser: "With African black soap and rose hips oil, this 100% natural, fragrance-free wash leaves your face refreshed." I will try this and see how I like it.

3. Balance Me Congested Skin Serum: "Calming spot treatment that fights blemishes, refines pores, and balances skin without drying." This might work good for me. I have to try this. I wonder if you put this all over the face or just on pimples.

4. The Balm Cosmetics Balm Desert Bronzer/Blush: "A blush and bronzer in one, this velvety powder gives a long-lasting, fresh-from-the-beach-glow." I saw other people get this in past Birchboxes, and I wanted to get this too. I love The Balm Cosmetics! This looks like a good bronzer for my fair skin, and it isn't orange. I think it would be good for contouring.

5. St. Tropez Gradual Tan In Shower: "This convenient, innovative self-tanner delivers build able color for a natural-looking glow. Tip apply evenly in circular motions to damp, clean skin. Wait 3 minutes, then rinse with warm water." I've actually never used a self tanner before. I wonder if it would look funny on me. Do you need to have a mit to apply?

Fall Fortune Cookie Soap Box: Old Hollywood!

Yay! My Fall Fortune Cookie Soap Box has arrived! This is my favorite box I get in the mail compared to Birchbox and IPSY. I opened up all these goodies and it filled the room with delicious smells! I think my favorite smells are Autumn smells. Also, I took this first photo with my new iPhone, so I am going to have to learn how to take pictures with my phone and how to upload the pictures to my blog. I think the quality of the picture is really good!

The theme of this season's box is Old Hollywood. "What lies behind the silver screen." I like the fairy tale themes better but this is ok. There was a pearl in the box. There is always some item in it that reflects the theme.

1. Dressed to Kill Fortune Cookie Soap: "Drop dead...GAWJUS. Dribbles of mulled, red wine, swirled with dark, rich vanilla and cut apples, and a dusting of spice." I can't really smell this very well. I don't smell the vanilla or apple. Maybe I smell a little bit of spice. It is very subtle. It is gold and glittery. I don't use this because I like using shower gels instead. It has a fortune that comes inside and there are a variety of different fortunes people can get because I watch videos on Youtube about unboxings and people get different fortunes than me. The one I got was not really a fortune just a quote from the movie Planet of the Apes. "Take your stink in' paws off me, you damn dirty ape."

2. Hollywood Dreams - Shampoo Bar: "It's not always what it seems. Imagine that!!! Fall is in the (h)air!! Brown sugar dusted graham crackers, fresh churned apple butter, sprinkled with nuts and a hint of maple. See website for directions - www.fortunecookiesoap.com." Oh my gosh! This smells so good! I could eat this! I might actually try this on my hair, even though I like traditional shampoo in the liquid form. But this smells so good! This smells like fall to me.

3. Tommy Guns & Baseball Bats - Whipped Cream: "Hey! That's not a Violin! famous last words. Grandma's apple pie, dusted with freshly shaved cinnamon, nutmeg and warm brown sugar, topped with rich, creamy, marshmallow fluff." I love these lotions. They are moisturizing and smell so good. This one doesn't smell that wonderful to me though. It doesn't smell bad, it just doesn't have the kind of scent I like I guess.

4. Scandal - Bath Powder: "I'm not addicted...I just like the smell of it. Creaking woods, wind blown leaves, and twisted rose thorns. Add entire bag to bath...enjoy!" This smells like leaves! I love it. I don't really take baths, but I would try this.

5. Famous - Wax Tart: "You're a star - at least to us! Warm amber, wild orchid, fluttering white cotton, sundried herbs." This smells pretty like potpourri.

6. Glitz & Glamour - OCD Hand Sanitizer: "Put it on classy, take it off trashy. Wet moss, polished woods, creamy vanilla." This is my favorite hand sanitizer I've tried from them. It smells like vanilla to me. It has gold sparkles in it too.

7. American Royalty - Pomade: "Happy Birthday, Mr. President! Rose milk, thick honey and warming tobacco blossom wrapped with caramel and notes of mandarin. See website for directions." This has an interesting smell. I think this is more masculine of a smell. I might put this in my hair when I have a ponytail and I want to slick back my hair.

8. Pearls & Girls - Perfume Oil: "Diamonds are a girl's best friend, but he always wants to give me a pearl necklace. Oh well! Crushed and distilled vanilla creeping with wild jasmine and a splash of juicy pear." I love the way this smells! This is new I think for Fortune Cookie to have the perfume in a little sprayer.

August Empties

1. Pantene Flat to Volume Shampoo for Fine Hair: I really like this shampoo. My mom likes it too. I would repurchase this, but I already have shampoos I feel like I should use before getting anything new.

2. Fortune Cookie Wonderland Futterwacken Body Wash: This smells like grapefruit and lilies. It was from my Spring Fortune Cookie Box. I really liked this, but I won't repurchase because I have so many body washes.

3. Lush Happy Hippy Shower Gel: I love this smell. It smells like grapefruit. It helps to wake you up. This was a good shower gel. I wouldn't buy it again because I think it is too expensive.

4. Philosophy Shampoo, Shower Gel & Bubble Bath in Gingerbread Girl: This smells like gingerbread. I really liked this. I would repurchase this, but I have too many shower gels.

5. Elf Mineral Face Primer: I got this from Target. I thought it looked good because it would counteract redness, but it didn't work too good for that. I liked the feel of it. I think it is a good primer. I wouldn't repurchase it, though.

6. Oribe Shampoo for Beautiful Color: I got this from my Birchbox. It doesn't lather up in my hair like I would like. I felt like I needed to use a lot of this to clean my hair. I will not purchase this.

7. Boots No.7 Lip Liner in Nude: This was my favorite nude lip liner for a long time. I think Lisa Eldridge used this in her tutorial about Audrey Hepburn. I got it at Target. I already have other nude lip liners I need to use before getting a new one.

8. L'Oreal Magic Lumi Highlighter: I might get this again. It is just as good as the Maybelline one. So whichever one is cheaper I will get. I already have concealers that I need to use.

9. Essential Elements Shower Gel: This smells like mint. It was OK at first. I like the Philosophy Candy Cane one better because it is sweeter. I wouldn't purchase this. I got this from either Birchbox or IPSY Bag.

10. Juicy Couture La La Perfume: I have never smelled a Juicy Couture perfume I didn't like. I like this one. For some reason I have two samples of this, but this is the first sample that has run out. I have so many perfumes in my collection counting all my samples and big bottles. I don't need to repurchase this one. But I would recommend it, if you like the first Juicy Couture or Juicy Couture Viva La Juicy. Ulta's description: Topnotes: sparkling mandarin, water hyacinth, green apple, red currant. Midnotes: lily of the valley, blushing peony, violet leaves, orange flower. Drydown: smooth woods, liquid musk. The smell is sweet and fruity with flowers. It is very girly.

July Favorites

Favorite TV Show

Big Brother: I watched this show when it first was on. It is on Sunday, Wednesday, and Thursday. It reminds me of Survivor. People live in a house with cameras everywhere. They do competitions and make alliances. Whoever is the last one in the house wins a lot of money.

Favorite Song

I Don't Like It, I Love It by Flo Rida ft. Robin Thicke & Verdine White

This month I wasn't really wearing much makeup so I don't have any beauty product to mention.

July Birchbox

I think the box this month is really cool looking!

This is what the card says. "Summer is not the time to hold back. It's the season of wearing brights on brights on brights, driving with the windows down, and eating popsicles for breakfast. Accordingly, what better time to dial up your beauty routine a notch (or three)? Don't worry, we'll be bringing you inspiration all month long."

1. clariSEA Rapid Detox Charcoal Exfoliant: "Made with sea salt scorched bamboo, this all-natural scrub battles blackheads and oil. Tip! Mix a dollop of scrub with water in your palm. Gently massage onto face, then rinse." I am interested to try this. I do have blackheads. I hope it isn't too harsh for the face.

2. Kerastase Resistance Ciment Thermique: "Bonus! We've added in this leave-in treatment from Kerastase to repair and protect hair." On the back it says, "Heat-activated reconstructing milk for damaged, brittle hair - for use with styling irons or hairdryers. Do not rinse." I don't know if I really need this, but I might try it.

3. MDSolarSciences Mineral Creme SPF 50: "This hydroallergenic formula fights signs of agin, blocks UVA and UVB rays, and has a silky finish." I like that this has SPF 50!

4. Supergoop! Daily Correct CC Cream SPF 35: "Next-generation SPF 35 CC cream that triple protects against UVA, UVB, and infrared-A rays." I've never tried CC cream. I'm curious to try it. It is light/medium. It might be a little too dark for my skin.

5. Juliette Has a Gun Not a Perfume: "This allergen-free, minimalist scent has a single note: elegant, spicy Cetalox." I like the way this smells!

6. stila look at me liquid lipstick trio in the color venizia: "This creamy formula glides on like a gloss yet lasts (and lasts and lasts) like a stain. Tip! Learn all about how to use your stay all day liquid lipstick at Birchbox.com/stila." This reminds me of my NYX liquid lipsticks. It looks like a lip gloss, but it is thicker and more opaque. It is a bright red.

I thought this box was better than the IPSY July Bag. My favorite thing was the Stila Liquid Lipstick.

July IPSY Bag

Something leaked in this month's bag so everything was soaking wet. I don't mean to be negative this month, but to be honest I am not excited about what I got this month. Maybe I am too spoiled with everything I have, but nothing wows me.  I think the bag is ugly.

1. Octavio La Playa (Sea Salt Spray infused with Algae Extract): I think this is what leaked. I don't really need a sea salt spray. I already have one. I wish my hair looked better when I used one. I think for some people sea salt sprays make their hair look pretty, but on my hair it just gets tangled.

2. Eau Thermal Avene Cleanance Gel: It says for oily, blemished prone skin. I honestly have no idea what this is. Maybe it is a face wash? Everything on it is in another language. IPSY really should come with a card explaining what is in the bag. I'm going to google it. It is a soap-free cleanser. I am happy with the face cleanser I always use which is Clean & Clear's Benzoyl Peroxide Wash, recommended by my dermatologist.

3. City Color HD Powder: This is a loose powder. Nothing exciting. I guess you can always use a powder.

4. Jelly Pong Pong 2-in-1 Eyeliner and Shadow: This looks like a brown shadow stick. I already have brown eye liners and brown eyeshadow sticks, so again something I don't really care about.

5. Bella Pierre Cosmetics P.I.N.K. Lipstick: This is nothing exciting. It looks like a plain pink lipstick to me.

I'm sorry I'm not that enthusiastic this month.
