August Favorites

1. Jesse's Girl High Intensity Nail Color in Julie G with Wet 'n Wild Wild Shine Nail Color in Hallucinate: I think I was at the beach when I found a Rite Aid and I got these polishes. I liked the combo so much I ended up putting it on my fingernails as well. It's just a pretty coral color and I like having glitter on top.

2. Skintimate Moisturizing Shave Gel in Flirty Mango with Vitamin E and Olive Butter: I have never spoken about what shaving gel I use. For a long time I've been loving the Skintimate shaving gels. They work well and smell good. They come in a lot of flavors. I decided to get the mango one this time.

3. Gillette Fusion Proglide (man's razor): For awhile now I've been having "issues" with the razors I get. They don't seem to be sharp enough or they have a built in soap that gets in the blade and makes it so the hairs aren't cut. One day I decided to borrow a man's razor, and I was so happy. The blade was very sharp and it did the shop perfectly. I don't know why women shavers don't work as well as men's. At least I haven't found one that does. Doesn't seem fair, does it? This comes with fillers to replace the blade.

4. Up & Up Moisturizing Body Wash Antibacterial Compare to Dial Spring Water Body Wash: I have a lot of Philosophy Body Washes and I was using those for awhile. I liked the smell, but one day I was really dirty on my legs and I noticed after my shower my legs still weren't clean! It was very annoying. So I went back and scrubbed my legs with some soap. I wished for a body wash that really cleaned myself. I had assumed my Philosophy Body Washes were doing that. I researched a bit online and found that the best thing to do was to find a body wash that said "antibacterial" on it. I went to Target and found this. It was the cheaper brand, but it works so well. It removes all the dirt and smells very nice. I love it! I'm going to repurchase.

5. Studio 35 Beauty 100% Acetone Nail Polish Remover: I have been using different polish removers, but it was taking a long time to remove my polish and not doing a very good job. This is a big bottle and the acetone is what makes the nail polish come off so easily. This even removed glitter nail polish very well! I didn't have to soak my nails and cover them with foiled paper even! I just used a cotton ball and it came right off!

6. L'Oreal Magic Skin Beautifier B.B. Cream in Fair: I have been hearing about B.B. Creams for awhile now and I was curious to try one. They have already been very popular in Asia and there are lots of good ones there. America has just started to get in on the craze, but unfortunately they haven't been getting very good reviews. They aren't as good as the ones you can get in Asia, I guess. I got the one from Garnier and the fairest one was too dark for me. I got the Maybelline one and it made my face look really greasy. I gave it to my mom and she absolutely loves it. She has dryer skin than me. I like this L'Oreal one the best. It may not be as good as the ones in Asia, but it works ok for me. On the tube it says it, "Primes to smooth skin's texture. Perfects to hide imperfections. Hydrates for all day moisture. Corrects skin for a healthy looking even complexion. Instantly transforms to your perfect shade for a flawless bare skin finish. Over time, more beautiful skin. Dermatologist tested. Helps protect against pore clogging. Encapsulated pigments infused in an ultra-light lotion with antioxidants Vitamin C & E." It looks white when you first put it on and it feels grainy, but you rub it in and it matches your skin tone. It's really cool. I still wear foundation and concealer though. So it doesn't make my skin look perfect.

 7. It's A 10 Miracle Leave-In Product: I heard about this from people on Youtube. I found it at the beach in a travel size version so I was so happy to try it. They don't have this at the drugstores near my house for some reason. It doesn't feel heavy or leave my hair greasy feeling. It also gets rid of frizz. This is a nice product. There is no bad smell to it either.

Duping theBalm Nude 'tude Eyeshadow Palette

I keep seeing people talk about this palette on Youtube. It's supposed to be really good and a cheaper alternative to Urban Decay's Naked Palette. I decided to dupe it using my own eyeshadow colors. I found Temptalia's blog has a good review of it and she describes each color, so it helps when trying to find a similar color in my collection. I'll include her description and my dupe. If you want to see Temptalia's review here it is: http://www.temptalia.com/thebalm-nude-tude-eyeshadow-palette-review-photos-swatches She also has swatches.

1. Sassy: "frosted white", Wet 'n Wild I'm Feeling Retro, browbone color

2. Stubborn: "light-medium peach with a soft frost finish", Wet 'n Wild Greed, 2nd color

3. Snobby: "gold shimmered medium-dark yellow", Elf Beauty Book Bright Eye Edition, 2nd row, 3rd shade

4. Stand-offish: "light-medium bronze-shimmered brown with warm, red undertones and a frost-metallic finish", Elf Beauty Book Bright Eye Edition, 2nd row, 4th shade

5. Selfish: "frosted taupe - it's brown and gray; very mushroom-like", Covergirl Tapestry Taupe

6. Sophisticated: "dark brown with subtle warm undertones and a bronze shimmer" I had a hard time duping this. It is as dark as Wet 'n Wild Comfort Zone, 4th color on the left, but the Wet 'n Wild color has more shimmers.

7. Sultry: "warmed-up medium brown with a satiny finish", Wet 'n Wild Comfort Zone, 3rd color on the left

8. Schitzo: "warm, golden bronze-brown with a soft, pearly finish", Maybelline Sunbaked Neutrals, bottom row, 2nd color

9. Sexy: "rich burgundy with hints of red and brown and a matte finish", my dupe doesn't have a matte finish but it isn't too sparkly, Maybelline Eye Studio in Mad for Mauve, 4th color

10. Serious: "medium dark black with a matte finish", Wet 'n Wild Greed, 3rd color

11. Silly: "red-tinted brown with flecks of copper sparkle", Maybelline Sunbaked Neutrals, bottom row, 1st color

12. Sleek: "dark black-brown with a matte finish", Wet 'n Wild Baked Not Fried, top left color

I hope you like my dupes and you enjoy theBalm's Nude'tude Palette whether you have the original or copied it with the makeup you already have.

August Birchbox

I was so excited yesterday because I received 3 packages in the mail! One from Glam Bag and 2 from Birchbox! The best part about subscribing is getting the packages in the mail. It feel like when you were a kid and you had a bunch of presents to open on your birthday or Christmas time and you felt this exciting feeling.

1. This box came with a little book with tons of tips: makeup items and how to use them, how to read a label, 5 tips to a better shave, solving common makeup blunders, and how to do your skin care in 3 minutes or less. It's like a little magazine! I thought it was very cool and handy. It also lists what is inside the box.

2. Schick Hydro Silk Razor: It says, "The water-activated serum moisturizes skin while you shave, and the innovative oval-shaped design hugs tricky areas like knees and ankles." I really needed something like this, so I'm happy to try it out.

3. Caldrea Hand Soap: "A delicious-smelling soap loaded with aloe vera and olive oil to soften hands." I haven't tried it yet. It seems ok. Something good to travel with I guess.

4. DDF Brightening Cleanser: "This foaming gel uses an all-star team of skin brighteners to fade discoloration and even out skin tone." This is a giant sample. I don't really want to use something different than my normal cleanser. I might give this to a friend.

5. Per-fekt Beauty Lash Perfection Gel: "Amp up your lashes with this multitasking primer, conditioner, and mascara." I like how this is a primer and conditioner in a mascara. I need to try it out.

6. Juicy Couture Viva la Juicy La Fleur: "This modern scent is a feminine blend of wild berries, mandarin, and waterlily." I'm so happy to get this! I love the Juicy Couture scents! I have the regular Viva La Juicy and a sample of the original Juicy Couture.

7. This came in a separate package in the mail. It is a pocket key chain. I'm not sure what to put in there. I guess a little perfume could fit or a lipstick. It is a leather-like material. It didn't come with anything that said what it was or why I got it.

August Glam Bag

Yesterday I got my Glam Bag and Birchbox in the mail on the same day! It was very cool.

1. The bag is a cool neon orange and pink mesh bag. The card has a picture of Michelle Phan and it says, "Endless Summer" on the top, so that is theme I suppose.

2. We got another nail polish called Circus by Andrea's Choice. I got Spectacle. The other shade you could have gotten is Ringmaster the card says. Last month I got a bright yellow shade. It looks pretty and very on trend for Summer.

3. Salty Cosmetics Glama-ZOID! Eye Shadow: You can kind of see it on my hand. Is a very shimmery, mineral powder.

4. Eclos Plant-Based Beauty Cellular Activator Facial Serum. This is what it says on the back of the bottle: "Incorporating the breakthrough technology of Plant Stem Cell research, this lightweight liquid awakens dormant skin stem cells, increases their longevity and enhances their ability to function like young cells. PhytoPlex24 incorporates plant extracts such as Comfrey and Gotu Kola to help visibly reduce the appearance of wrinkles and other signs of skin decline. You can have a smoother, softer, youthful complexion again." I don't know if I believe all the claims. I guess I'm just skeptical. I already have youthful looking skin. I don't want to interfere with what my dermatologist is having me do right now, so I probably will give this to my mom.

5. Eclos Plant-Based Beauty Moisture Therapy Regenerative Cream: You are supposed to use the serum first and then apply this cream. It claims to do the same as above.

6. Demeter Fragrance Library Roll on Perfume Oil in Dragon Fruit: It smells really good. I think you can get these inexpensively at Walgreens.

7. My Glam Glam Gloss in the shade 02: It looks very bright and summery. I don't know if it would look good on me.

Beach Makeup

I just came back from Cannon Beach, Oregon. It was so beautiful. Here are some pictures:

This is Haystack Rock. There are tons of little rocks around it and tide pools. This is my favorite beach to go to.

I love going to the beach. The sound of the waves is so relaxing.

Here is one of the tide pools. There were so many starfish! I haven't seen so many before. They were lying on the sand too! Tons of them and lots of different colors too.

I had a list of beach makeup tutorials from youtube that I brought with me to try out. I only had three that I ended up really liking. I wanted to share them with you. I put the name and a link to the video, who did it, what makeup they used, and what makeup I used. Sometimes I used the same thing. These are also good looks to wear in hot weather in general. It is really hot in Oregon right now, so I've been still wearing my beach makeup looks.

1. Beach/Pool Makeup by xteeener http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hk3lmGy7jsw
a. Eye Primer: I used Too Faced Shadow Insurance.
b. Eye Liner only upper lashes: I used Prestige Waterproof Automatic Eyeliner in Sepia.
c. Covergirl Eye Enhancers in Shimmering Sands, middle shade on eyelid
d. Mascara only to top lashes: Maybelline One By One Volume' Express Waterproof
e. Soft Lips has SPF
My Thoughts: It is natural, but it brings out my eyes.

2. Beach Make-Up - Brights by lisaeldridgedotcom http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XGRVgTcSBaU
a. Sunblock: I used Neutrogena Ultimate Sport Sunblock Lotion SPF 70+.
b. Concealer: I used Garnier Skin Renew Anti-Dark-Circle Roller in the lightest shade. You can use whatever concealer works best for you.
c. Blotting Paper instead of Powder: I used powder because it works best for me. Bare Minerals Mineral Veil
d. Waterproof Eyeliner on top lashes: Again I used Prestige Waterproof Automatic Eyeliner in Sepia.
e. Waterproof Mascara: Same as above tutorial.
f. Cheek Tint on Cheeks and Lips Pixi Succulent Lip Twin in Poppy Red: I couldn't find this in the store. I got Pixi Succulent Lip Twin in Coral Camelia which is very pretty.
My Thoughts: This is like the last look except better because it adds natural color to my cheeks and lips.

Beach Day Look (from start to finish) Get Ready With Me TAG from ThatsHeart http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MoJIGKdWIR8
a. Sunblock
b. Lip Balm with SPF
c. BB Cream: L'Oreal Magic Skin Beautifier B.B. Cream in Fair
d. Powder
e. Mascara
f. Benefit Posie Tint for Lips and Cheeks: I don't have this so I used what I had that was a soft, peony pink. PixiGlow Magic Think Tint in Happy Thoughts Pink for my lips and NYX Rouge Cream Blush in Natural for my cheeks.
g. Bronzer lightly dust on face: Mac Studio Careblend Pressed Powder in Medium Deep
h. Finishing Spray: Elf Makeup Mist & Set
My Thoughts: It's natural and pretty.

Overall, I like the looks that have sunblock on face and lips. The Covergirl Shimmering Sands is a great way to wear eyeshadow without looking silly, like you have too much makeup on. I also really like the Prestige liner. It is good to wear waterproof liner and mascara. Also, wearing a stain on the lips and cheeks is good so it will last. With these looks I never looked like I had on too much makeup. I just looked nice and fit for the beach.
