May Favorites

This month was so long! I'm excited to get to write about my May favorites!

Favorite Movie: The Great Gatsby

I have been wanting to see this movie ever since I first saw the trailer in the movie theater back in 2012. I love Leonardo Dicaprio. I think he is an amazing actor. I have had a crush on him since I was in high school and he played Romeo in Romeo and Juliet. I have heard some people complain the movie is not like the book, but I have read the book three times and I think they did an excellent job bringing the book to life. The director is amazing. He did Moulin Rouge. It is visually stunning. I also liked the music. I saw a trailer for The Lone Ranger and I'm excited for when that movie comes out.

Favorite Book: Crossed by Ally Condie

This is the second book in the Matched Trilogy. In this book the main character from the first book, Cassia runs away to find the boy she loves. The book alternates between her telling the story and the boy. So it is interesting to see the different points of view. This book is more like an adventure than the first book. It is also sadder than the first book. It ends so you want to read the third book. I really have been enjoying this trilogy.

Favorite Nail Polishes: I had a lot of favorites this month!

1. Elf Nail Polish in Coral Dream: This came in a set of 4 nail polishes. This color is so pretty. I also like cap because it makes it easy to hold the brush when you are applying the nail polish.

2. Essie Nail Lacquer in First Timer: I heard a lot about this nail polish on Youtube. People were raving about it. I normally don't wear green nail polish, but this has a mint color to it. I really like it.

3. OPI Nail Lacquer in You're Such a Budapest: I heard a lot about this on Youtube, too. I decided to wear this on my toes. It looked good with blue jeans. OPI has a great formula.

4. Essie Nail Lacquer in Under Wear? This is also from the Resort Collection 2013, just like First Timer. These are limited edition for the summer. I absolutely love this nail polish! It reminds me when I first got a manicure and I asked the lady doing my nails to pick the color that would be best for me, and she picked a color like this. I haven't been able to find that color again until now. It is very flattering with my coloring, I think.

5. Jordana Glitters Nail Polish in Cosmic and Wet 'n Wild Fergie Nail Color in Mermaid Curves: It is hard to see this polish. It is a bunch of different size teal glitters. I put the Jordana one on first and the glitters are really big, so there were spaces on the nails that had no glitter. I had the Wet 'n Wild one which has teal glitters but they were small, so I just put that on top. Teal is my favorite color. It matched my flip flops. I'm sorry the picture doesn't show the glitters that well.

6. Sally Hansen Hard As Nails Xtreme Wear Nail Color in Celeb City: I have this on my ring finger. It has lasted for so long! The rest of my nails are in a turquoise color. I repainted them because they looked too light. I saw someone on Youtube with their nails in turquoise and their ring fingers in a foil with glitter top coat. She had an expensive foil nail polish. I found this one by Sally Hansen and it worked so nicely. I really recommend it. It isn't limited edition.

7. Milani Nail Lacquer in Silver: I put this on top of my ring fingers. This is a chunky, silver glitter. It is so pretty! I feel very posh with this on my nails.

Other Beauty Favorites:

1. Milani Eye Shadow Primer: I heard about this on Youtube, and I felt like everyone was sent this and so I wasn't really happy about this. When everyone is sent something and they all like it, it makes me feel like it is just getting a lot of hype, but it's not necessarily a good product. You know? I don't know why I finally decided to get it. Maybe I was just curious. Oh my gosh! This product really does work! And I have oily eyelids! My shadows don't crease with this! This works better than Too Faced Shadow Insurance and Urban Decay Primer Potion! I'm so glad I found this because it is cheaper and at the drugstore.

2. Pixi Flawless & Poreless Face Primer in Translucent: I saw this on someone's monthly favorites blog post. I like to try different primers. This I got at Target. It works really nicely. Pixi is expensive though, so that is the only down side.

3. Tresemme Tres Two Hair Spray Ultra Fine Mist: I ran out of my usual hair spray, so I went on Makeup Alley to see the reviews for the best hair spray. This got a lot of ratings and a lot of good reviews, so I decided to get it. This makes your head like a helmet! Your hair is not going to move at all! I love it.

4. Victoria Secret Body Wash in Such A Flirt: I heard about this through someone's Youtube monthly favorite video. She said she couldn't wait to take showers because she loved this body wash so much! For some reason that made me very curious. I had seen other people with Victoria Secret body washes, and I had never tried it before. I have a lotion, which smells so good and I love the formula. So I guessed it would smell good and be good quality. This is in the scent starfruit and white orchid. It has aloe vera and the antioxidant Vitamin E. This is a great body wash. I don't feel like rushing to take a shower or anything! I would get a Victoria Secret Body Wash again. The only problem is it is expensive. I feel like you can get just as good of body washes at the drugstore.

5. Physicians Formula BB Cream in light/medium: I heard people talk about this and again I was curious. I have never found a bb cream that I liked. This got good reviews from people. I do like this, but I think my face has turned more oily now that it is getting warmer. So I have to go back to wearing my Estee Lauder foundation. This had good coverage for me though. I just didn't like to have to keep on putting on powder.

6. One 'n Only Argan Oil: I got a new hair straightener. It came with this little bottle of argan oil. Wow! This stuff really works! It makes my hair smooth and straight. It eliminates the frizz. I put it on when my hair is wet. It smells really good too. You can get this at Sally's Beauty Supply Store.

7. Urban Decay Mariposa Palette: I did a blog post about this palette. http://beautydiversion.blogspot.com/2013/05/urban-decay-mariposa-palette-looks.html
I love the Urban Decay eye shadows! These are my favorite shadows I own. They are so pigmented and they come in a beautiful selection of colors. I'm so happy to finally have my hands on them.

8. The Balm Meet Matt(e) Nude Palette: I just realized Matt looks like my psychologist! lol! xD How weird! I love that these are neutral colors and that they are matte. This is a good palette to have in your makeup collection. I will be using this palette often, I think. I did a blog post on this: http://beautydiversion.blogspot.com/2013/05/the-balm-meet-matte-nude-eyeshadow.html

9. Garnier Fructis Fortifying Shampoo in Fall Fight: This is supposed to help damaged hair, so you don't have falling, breaking hair. It has energizing caffeine, fortifying biotin, and fruit vitamins. I also have been using the conditioner, which I mentioned in another monthly favorites. You massage this into your scalp. My hair still breaks and falls out, so I don't know if this is working. But maybe I have less hair falling out and breaking. It smells really good and my hair looks good when I use this. If this doesn't work, I will have to start using Rogaine for Women, I think. I don't want to go bald! My dad is bald and sometimes I'm afraid that is what will happen to me, but my mom has beautiful hair, so hopefully I will have more of her genes. I just need to take care of my hair.

10. Vaseline Lip Therapy: This is such a cute tiny container compared to the large tub of Vaseline I am used to. I use this on chapped lips and it works really good.

11. Wet 'n Wild Color Icon Eye Shadow Single in Brûlée: This is a dupe for MAC's Brûlée. It is a matte, cream shade that matches my skin color. I like to use it as a brow highlight or in my tear duct.

Favorite Songs: It's really hard for me to list my favorite songs because I love music, and every day I hear songs that I like. I tried to keep a list this month of all the songs I was loving on the radio. Whenever I heard one I liked I wrote it down in a little notebook I keep in my car. This is the list of songs I came up with. They are all different genres of music. Some are old, some are new. If you haven't heard of one, you should look it up and listen to it. You might find a new song you like!

1. Stayin' Alive by Bee Gees
2. Firework by Katy Perry
3. Thy Word by Amy Grant
4. Danny's Song by Kenny Loggins
5. Stay by Rihanna

22. Super Bass by Nicki Minaj

32. Beautiful by Mariah Carey (feat. Miguel)
33. Heart Attack by Demi Lovato
34. One Thing Remains by Passion (feat. Kristian Stanfill)
35. Philadelphia Freedom by Elton John

So many songs! Phew! I told you I can't pick just one! Some of the songs I never heard before this month.

Those are my favorites! I hope you enjoyed! What were your favorites this month?

Colors of the Rainbow TAG

I saw the most beautiful rainbow yesterday on my drive home. The sky had dark blue clouds, and the rainbow was bright against the sky. For some reason I don't notice rainbows very often. When I saw this it made me so happy!

There is this rainbow tag going on in Youtube land, and I have been watching some of the videos and it looked like a fun tag to do. I think you are supposed to pick one item for each color of the rainbow. I couldn't pick just one color. I put things into groups based on the color. These are some of my favorite things.

Here are some links to some Youtube videos of the tag:

3. CHI Silk Infusion: This is new for me. It makes my hair so silky. I love it. It is my new favorite product for my hair.
4. Bath and Body Works Fragrance Mist in Bali Mango: I love how this smells! It is from the 2013 Escape Collection.

1. Paul Mitchell Tea Tree Lemon Sage Thickening Spray: This was recommended to me by a hair stylist. It works really nice on my head.
2. Essie Nail Lacquer in First Timer: This is a pretty green to wear on the nails.

Urban Decay Mariposa Palette Looks

This is the last palette I got in the Hautelook.com sale. It is the Urban Decay Mariposa Palette. Mariposa means butterfly in Spanish. Originally it costs $39, but I got it for only $19! Here's what it looks like:

It has the most beautiful eye shadows I own. Also, it comes with a little brush that is the perfect size for putting eyeshadow in the tearduct. I found only a few looks on Youtube using this palette. One of the people I subscribe to (and she subscribes to my blog), got this palette and asked her subbies what colors they wanted her to use in a look. I commented my choice, and I didn't think anything would come from it. But she did a look and said it was for me! I was so excited! So one of these looks was created just for me! It is by Gottalovemel105. So that was very sweet. I can't wait to try out the look.

These are the products I used for each look:
BB Cream: Physicians Formula Super BB Cream in light/medium
Powder: Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder in Translucent
Eye Primer: Milani Eye Shadow Primer
Mascara: Maybelline The Rocket Volum' Express Waterproof in Very Black (top lashes), Maybelline Lash Discovery Mini-Brush Waterproof in Very Black (bottom lashes)
Bronzer: MAC Studio Careblend Pressed Powder in Medium Deep

q. MAC Tour De Fabulous: Revlon Colorburst Lip Gloss in Bellini
My Thoughts: I don't normally wear grays on my eyes, so I wasn't sure about this look at first, but I think it does bring out my eyes and it looks good. I thought the cheeks were too dark, but I put powder over them, so be careful about that. The lips are my favorite peachy pink color. I don't know why she put liquid liner over gel liner. I skipped that step.

This is a great palette. It has a lot of dark colors. I think my favorite palette out of all the ones I got is the Urban Decay Deluxe Palette. I'm so happy to finally own Urban Decay shadows. I will probably use them to dupe future looks. If I do I will include a dupe of the Urban Decay shadow that is less expensive, if I know of one.

May Empties!

I finished up some more products to show you. One of them I just hit pan on, but I wanted to show you what it looked like before I used it all up.

1. Walgreens Cotton Swabs: These were just ordinary q-tips. I use them to wipe off eye makeup under my eye or to fix my eye liner mistakes. I dip them in the Maybelline Expert Eyes Moisturizing Eye Makeup Remover because it gets off waterproof eye makeup. I would purchase these again. I'm not picky when it comes to q-tips. I will get the cheapest I can find.

2. MAC Studio Careblend Pressed Powder in Medium Deep: I use this whenever a look calls for contouring. I didn't know what to use for my skin color because I'm so light and I wanted a contour to look natural on me. I decided to go to a MAC counter to have a makeup artist match me. I think this is the right color for me. I would repurchase this when I run out. Even though it isn't drugstore, I like knowing that it is the right match for me. It has lasted a long time too. I just use a little bit of it. It is a matte powder that is a few shades darker than my skin color, so it technically isn't a bronzer, but you can use it like it is.

3. Freeman Facial Enzyme Mask in Pineapple: This is supposed to restore radiant skin. I used this once a week. There is a lot of product in the sample. I stored it in a zip lock bag and it stayed fresh. It smells so good! You leave it on your face for 10 minutes and when you rinse it off your face feels smoother. I didn't notice it looking more radiant. I would purchase the full size. I don't think I've ever seen the full size version of this at the store. If I do see it, I would get it. I recommend it.

4. Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash: This was recommended to me by my dermatologist. It has salicylic acid in it which helps get rid of acne. She said for me to use a benzoid peroxide wash in the morning and a salicylic acid wash at night. It is good to have both I guess to get rid of acne. Your skin won't get used to one. This method works for me because I rarely get pimples. I repurchase this in bulk!

5. Juicy Couture in Couture La La Perfume: This smells so good! I'm sorry it is all used up. I love the Juicy Couture perfumes. I haven't smelled one that I didn't like. It smells like a combination of fruit and flowers. Sephora says the notes are sparkling mandarin, water hyacinth, green apple, red currant, lily of the valley, blushing peony, violet leaves, orange flower, smooth woods, and liquid musk. This is a nice perfume for any time of the year. I got this sample from my February Birchbox. Even though I like this perfume, I don't think I would purchase it because I already have a big size bottle of Viva La Juicy.

6. MAKE Dual-Phase Eye Makeup Remover: It was good, but I like Neutrogena better. And it is more affordable and easier to get. I got this sample from a Birchbox.

7. Bvlgari Jasmin Noir Eau de Parfum: I got a sample from a Birchbox. This scent has notes of green sap, gardenia petals, samba jasmine absolute, satiny almond, precious wood, licorice, and tonk a bean absolute. Sephora says the style is seductive, sophisticated, and refined. I agree with that. I like the smell, but it is a little too spicy for me, if that makes any sense. I like lighter, fruitier, sweeter scents. I'm still figuring out what kinds of perfumes I like. I have so many samples it has helped me figure out my tastes. I wouldn't purchase this.

8. COACH Poppy Flower: This is in the purple packaging. The notes are sweet freesia, violet leaves, wet ivy, juicy grapefruit, mandarin, lychee, cassis, jasmine petals, water lily, rose, amber, and apricot skin. Sephora says the style is chic, vibrant, and whimsical. It definitely is vibrant. Even though I just said I like the fruit and floral scents, this perfume is just ok to me. I wouldn't purchase it. It's not a bad smell. I'm not sure what it is that I don't like. I still wore it, so I like it just ok.

9. Tresemme Frizz Shield Finishing Spray: It worked good as a hair spray, but it didn't help with my frizziness. But my hair has a mind of it's own, and it can be very stubborn against hair products. I didn't repurchase this.

10. Up & Up Women's Shave Gel in Strawberry Tangerine: It says this is compared to Skintimate Strawberry Tangerine Twist. It is extra moisturizing with Vitamin E and olive butter. I loved this! This smells so good, it made me want to run out of the shower and make myself a fruit smoothie! I had heard about this in someone else's favorites, so I went to Target to get it. I would recommend this and I would repurchase this. The only problem is it is at Target. It is more convenient for me to go to Rite AId or Walgreens. Target is further away and the Target where I live is always really busy, so I would rather not go to it. The parking lot is horrible. I feel like I'm going to get in an accident whenever I go there. I think this shaving gel is as good as Skintimate. It was even better because it smelled so amazing.

I hope you enjoyed reading about my empties! Feel free to leave a comment!

The Balm Meet Matt(e) Nude Eyeshadow Palette Looks

Back in February I got a bunch of palettes on sale at Hautelook.com. One of the palettes I got was The Balm Meet Matt(e) Nude. I was excited to get some matte eyeshadows in my makeup collection. I heard good things about this palette. It originally costs $34, but I got it for $21 which is a pretty good deal. I'm addicted to Hautelook.com now. I'm constantly checking to see what's on their website because it always changes, and things get sold out pretty quickly. Don't worry, I'm not affiliated with them. I just really like the website. I've been talking about them a lot lately because I got so many things I want to share on the blog.

This palette has neutral, matte shadows. It's funny because there is another Matt(e) eyeshadow palette, but the shadows are smaller and "Matt" is dressed on the cover of the palette. In my palette his shirt is off, and it says "Size matters." So the actual eyeshadow is bigger than the first palette. This brand is so cheeky, I love it. Also, each eye shadow is named after someone named Matt.

I didn't find very many looks on Youtube with this palette, but I've been using it all the time to copy looks. I really like the shade Matt Abdul because it is the only matte taupe I have. I want to share with you the looks I've found that I like.

Here are some pictures of the palette and swatches:

This is a picture of a sample matte eye shadow from The Meet Matt(e) Palette, where Matt has his clothes on. I think I got this from a Birchbox.

Here is Meet Matt(e) Nude:

My Thoughts: The eye shadow look is more brown, than the look before. The blush is a cute pink color. This is a pretty look.

h. Eyeliner and Mascara (she doesn't show how)
My Thoughts: This girl is so pretty! She does a good review. She doesn't say what is on her lips. They look like nothing is on them. I used brown liner and my normal mascara routine. I put liner on the top and bottom lash lines and smudged it out with my Elf Smudger Brush. For lip gloss I used Revlon Colorstay in Peony, on of my favorites. This look was easiest out of all of them. I like it the best.
