May Favorites!

Favorite Movies

1. Heaven Is For Real: This is based on a true story about a little boy who said he went to heaven when he was having a serious operation and might have died. This is a drama. I usually don't like movies like this because I don't want to cry. Sometimes I feel like movies try to manipulate your emotions to get you to cry, and I don't appreciate that. I didn't cry in this movie, but be warned it might make you cry. Nobody believes the little boy. But he knows things that how could a four year old boy know? I don't want to give anything away. It is just a really good movie. I will see it again when it is available to rent. Greg Kinnear does an amazing job as the father. There is some great acting in this. And the little boy is so cute!

2. Blended: This is a romantic/comedy. This is perfect for a date. I thought it was really funny. I heard it didn't get good reviews, but normally Adam Sandler movies don't get good reviews. I love Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore. I like the other two movies they were in together. It starts off where they are on a blind date and it goes horrible wrong. Then somehow they both end up at a family vacation in Africa together with their children. There are a lot of funny characters. I thought it was a sweet movie.

Nail Favorites

1. Essie Nail Lacquer in Fashion Playground: I wore this color a lot this month. I just love the minty green color on the nails for some reason.

These are two different nail polishes, but they look very similar. The middle finger is lighter and it is limited edition. The one on the right is permanent and is a little darker.

2. Essie Nail Lacquer in Turquoise & Caicos: This may be a dupe for the Fashion Playground. You don't need both colors. The Turquoise & Caicos polish is a better quality nail polish. It isn't as streaky as Fashion Playground.

3. Beauty Secrets Non-Acetone Nail Polish Remover: You can't tell from the picture because it is laying side ways, but this is half way gone. I went to Sally's Beauty Supply Store, and asked what would be a good nail polish remover that wasn't hard on the nails, and they recommended one with out Acetone. Acetone is good to remove glitter nail polish, but if you are wearing regular polish it is good to use a non-acetone remover.

Hair Favorite

Aussie Catch the Wave Mousse + Leave-In Conditioner: This is a flexible hold. You put this in your hair when it is wet and scrunch the hair. If you have wavy hair like me, it will help make your hair wavy and leave it that way. I think this does a good job. This will get you beachy hair. I like to use a clipless wand and curl the hair when it is dry to add to the curly effect.

Skin Favorites

1. Freeman Facial Exfoliating Scrub Pink Grapefruit: I mentioned this in my May Empties post. I used a sample of this and I loved it. I couldn't find it in the stores, so I had to buy it online, but it was inexpensive. It has tiny beads to exfoliate, so it works really well, and I love the smell of Pink Grapefruit! This is very refreshing. I use it once a week to exfoliate my face.

2. Tree Hut Shea Sugar Body Scrub in Coconut and Lime: I heard that this was Elle Fowler's favorite body scrub. It smells very tropical and refreshing. I used this once a week to exfoliate my body. My skin feels so smooth! This didn't last very long. I would repurchase a scrub from Tree Hut. I ordered this from Ulta I think, but I saw you can buy Tree Hut from Fred Meyers. This is a good quality scrub.

Beauty Favorites

1. Hard Candy Blush Crush Baked Blush in Honeymoon: I mixed this with Wet 'n Wild Pearlescent Pink, which is a pigmented peachy-pink color. This adds a pink glow to it and it looks so pretty on the face. I liked this so much I used it several times, and I normally change my blush pretty often. Wet 'n Wild Pearlescent Pink is a dupe for NARS Orgasm and Hard Candy Honeymoon is a dupe for MAC's Shy Beauty Beauty Powder.

2. Benefit High Beam: This is a really pretty highlighter. I got a little sample size I think from my Benefit Advent Calendar. It isn't glittery, it just gives a natural glow to the face.

3. L'Oreal Colour Riche Eye Shadow in 839 Cupa Joe: This isn't very pigmented, but sometimes you don't really want the eyeshadows to be very pigmented on the eyes. This is a nice neutral palette.

4. NYX Butter Gloss in Maple Blondie: This is a really pretty coral lip gloss. It is very pigmented. It smells like cupcakes.

5. Pacifica Solar Complete Mineral Palette: I think this is a nice beach palette. It has 3 highlighters at the top. On the left is a blush and the right is a bronzer. Then there are six eyeshadows. It is an all natural palette. I ordered it off of Pacifica's website. The colors are really pretty.

6. Sephora Disney Storylook Ariel Palette: I really love my Sephora Cinderella palette, so I decided to get the Ariel and Jasmine palettes off of E-Bay. The Jasmine palette hasn't arrived yet. The Ariel palette has really great quality eyeshadows. And I like the Disney movies. I think the packaging is beautiful.

7. Revlon Super Lustrous Lip Gloss in Peach Petal: I don't think they make this anymore. This is a really pretty nude lip gloss. It is a dupe for NARS Turkish Delight.

May Empties!

This is where I get to show you my trash, and because I tried this product hopefully I can give a good review and tell you whether or not I would recommend it or if I would repurchase this. I hope this is helpful!

1. Freeman Facial Peel-Off Mask Cucumber: The packaging says, "Clarifies & renews skin. This clarifying mask gently peels away impurities while Cucumber Extract leaves your skin smooth and silky." You apply and leave on for 5-10 minutes and then you peel it off and rinse with warm water. I don't like this kind of mask. It was hard finding the mask to peel off because it is clear. I am not going to purchase this. This is small size. You can buy it in a bottle form too. I've seen it at Walgreens.

2. Freeman Facial Exfoliating Scrub in Pink Grapefruit: The packaging says, "Invigorates & smoothes complexion. This deeply purifying non-abrasive exfoliating scrub enhanced with Pink Grapefruit gently resurfaces. Invigorates and smoothes your skin. Microbeads remove dead skin cells and improve healthy cell renewal." This smells so good! And it is non-abrasive. The beads are very small. I couldn't find this in the store, so I bought the full size bottle on drugstore.com for $3.99.

3. Banana Boat Sport Performance Sunblock SPF 50: I didn't finish this because  I saw my skin would peel off whenever I used this stuff! I looked up Consumer Reports to see what the best sunscreen was and it said the Walmart Equate SPF 50 is one of the best! So I'm going to have to pick that up, and hopefully my skin won't peel! I don't recommend this sunblock.

4. Coppertone Sport Ultra Sweatproof Waterproof SPF 50 Clear Continuous Spray Sunscreen: This works good on my legs, but I have some sort of allergic reaction when I put it on my chest and arms. The spray makes it easy to apply. I would get this again for my legs, my my arms and chest peel off just like the Banana Boat Sunscreen.

5. Versace Bright Crystal Eau de Toilette: This was a one time use sample. I got a bunch of perfume samples like this when I ordered on E-Bay. It was really nice of the sender. This smells very bright! It helps to wake you up. I like it! I wouldn't purchase this because I have too many perfumes and samples. Sephora says the notes are "Iced Accord, Yuzu, Pomegranate, Peony, Magnolia, Lotus Flower, Acajou, Vegetal Amber, and Musk." I can really smell the pomegranate. That is what is so refreshing. Sephora says the style is "sheer, sensual, and luminous." It isn't sheer, it is very strong. I wouldn't say it was sensual or luminous. But I liked the way it smelled.

6. Chloe Eau de Parfum: This smells so elegant! I love it! This would make a nice gift from a boyfriend/husband. It is &105. I wouldn't buy this because I already have so many perfumes and samples. I don't need it, but it is nice. Sephora says the notes are "Pink Peony, Freesia, Lychee, Magnolia Flower, Lily of the Valley, Rose, Cedarwood, Amber, and Honey." It is very feminine.

7. Miss Dior Blooming Bouquet Eau de Toilette: This reminds me of the Chloe perfume, but fainter. It smells very feminine too. I like it. I wouldn't purchase this. It would be a romantic gift. Sephora says the notes are, "Sicilian Orange Essence, Pink Peony, Damascus Rose, and White Musk." They say the style is "chic, romantic, and charming." I think it is romantic.

8. Healthy Sexy Hair Color Safe Soy Moisturizing Shampoo: I got this at Super Cuts when I got my hair dyed. They recommended this to me. I don't think I will repurchase this because it is expensive. I will look for one at the drugstore that is color safe.

9. Tresemme Tres Two Spray Ultra Fine Mist Hair Spray 3: It says "superior hold with touchable feel. All day humidity resistance." It has superior hold. My hair is fine, so it was really thick in my hair. I felt like taking a shower after using it. I like it though. I repurchased it. When I researched what hairspray to buy this hairspray got a lot of good reviews.

10. Maybelline Dream Lumi Concealer in Radiant: I love this stuff! I repurchased it. I like the one in ivory too. It has a peachy tint to it, so it helps brighten dark under eyes. You can put it on the face as a highlighter.

The Balm Brushes!

I got these brushes a little while ago, and I have been using them every day since! They are such good quality. They don't shed. They are very well made. They have cute names for each one too. I only bought 3, but there is more.

Crease, Love & Happiness

This is a crease brush. The left side I use for the outer corner of my eye, and the right side for the contour. They are small, so they fit my eye space really well.

Women Empowderment!

I love the left side for using eye shadow as an eyeliner. You can get close to the lashes and the brush is so soft. I haven't used the right side, but I'm sure you could use that for eye liner too.

Give CREASE a chance!

This is a really large sized brush. The left side is good if you want to put a big wash of eye shadow over your entire eye space. The right side is the largest crease brush I own. It is so soft and perfect for blending shadow out!

I saw someone using these brushes on Youtube, and I found them and bought them from The Balm's website. The Balm is sometimes on Hautelook for sale, so you might see these brushes on sale one of these days.

http://www.thebalm.com/power-to-the-people.html It says "Powder to the People." lol! And the brushes have little hands of people holding brushes and fists in the air like they are on strike. xD

Review & How-To of The Real Techniques Complexion Sponge

The Real Techniques Complexion Sponge vs. The Beauty Blender

I have owned both. I gave the Beauty Blender to my mom. I wanted to get The Real Techniques Complexion Sponge because I heard it was a dupe. I think it is, and I think it is even better than the Beauty Blender!

It is better than the Beauty Blender because it has the flat angle and it is cheaper. The Beauty Blender costs $19.95, and you can get it at Sephora. The Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge costs $6. Also, for some reason, the Beauty Blender gets stained very easily. The Beauty Blender is shaped more like an egg. It doesn't have as many angles as the Real Techniques Sponge.

How to Use The Real Techniques Sponge

I found a really good tutorial on how to use it here: http://realtechniques.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=92&catid=4

1. Get it wet and squeeze out the excess.

2. Put foundation on the back of your hand and use the flat side of the sponge. Blend it all over the skin for a light coverage. If you want a heavier coverage, bounce the sponge.

3. The flat side lets you get right under the eyes and corners of the nose.

4. The pointy end is good if you want to cover blemishes. You put concealer on the back of your hand and dab on the spot.

5. Use the flat end with concealer to bounce lightly under the eyes. Turn it horizontally to use the rounded edge and bounce under the eye to push the concealer in.

6. You can use it to apply cream blush. Use the rounded side and push into the skin.

7. You can use it with powder. Push it into the powder. Make sure it isn't the side where you put the blush. Blot where you put powder. Some put it just in the t-zone. I put it everywhere except the blush.

8. Once you used it it is really easy to clean with baby shampoo!

I followed these steps, and I got a flawless, beautiful face! I was amazed. No wonder people keep talking about using sponges!

These are the products I used:

1. Foundation: Revlon Colorstay Makeup for Normal/Dry Skin in 110 Ivory

2. Concealer: Maybelline Dream Lumi Touche Highlighting Concealer in Ivory

3. Cream Blush: NYX Rouge Cream Blush in Glow

4. Powder: Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder in 001 Transparent

5. Baby Shampoo Walgreens Brand

Kat Von D Esperanza Palette Dupes!!!

This is a popular palette I have been hearing about on Youtube this year. I have done some looks with this palette, so I already had a lot of the dupes figured out. I decided to finish up duping the palette and making a blog post on it. I hope you find this helpful! This was limited edition. I found it here: Amazon for $56. I heard that Kat Von D makeup is really good. It has been getting a good buzz this year. Also I think this palette is really beautiful. I also like the interesting names she gives her products. I again owe a lot of help to finding my dupes via Temptalia's blog: http://www.temptalia.com/kat-von-d-esperanza-eyeshadow-palette-review-photos-swatches. I love how she has comparison pictures of all of her dupes next to the original. That is really helpful.

1. Selena: Wet 'n Wild I'm Feeling Retro, bottom color (my dupe)

2. Dayglow: Disney Ariel Storylook Eyeshadow Palette in Sick of Swimmin' (my dupe)

3. Galore: Sephora Disney Magic Carpet Ride Eyeshadow Palette in Splendid (Temptalia's dupe)

4. Placebo: Physicians Formula Warm Happy Booster Mood Boosting Blush (my dupe)

5. Santeria: Sephora Disney Storylook Palette Ariel in Jetsam (Temptalia's dupe)

6. Archangel: Pacifica Solar Complete Mineral Palette in Mermaid Aqua (my dupe)

7. South: Wet 'n Wild Brûlée (my dupe)

8. Dog Roses: Wet 'n Wild Fergie Newport Nights, middle color (my dupe)

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder Dupes!

I feel like I've been on a duping frenzy! I keep getting ideas for new dupe posts. I always keep track of dupes I find, but I don't always post them. A dupe is slang for duplicate. It is a product that is similar to another product, and hopefully it is cheaper. I don't know how close my dupes really are because I don't own any Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powders. They cost $35. You can find them here: Sephora. There is also a palette that comes with three powders and it includes "Incandescent Light." Temptalia did a review on it on her blog: http://www.temptalia.com/hourglass-ambient-lighting-palette-review-photos-swatches.

This isn't all the Ambient Powders. These are just the ones I have seen people use a lot and I have duped.

1. Diffused Light: Sephora describes this as "soft, warm pale yellow powder." My dupe is a cream product, Benefit's Watt's Up!

2. Dim Light: "neutral peach beige powder" My dupe is Wet 'n Wild Brûlée. This is bizarre because Wet 'n Wild Brûlée is only $1.99 at drugstores! It is an eye shadow, but I used it to dupe Dim Light!

3. Incandescent Light: "pearlescent powder" My dupe is I think dead on. Physicians Formula Mineral Glow Pearls in Translucent Pearl.

4. Luminous Light: "champagne pearl powder" My dupe is Elf Blush in Gotta Glow.

5. Radiant Light: "golden beige powder" My dupe is Wet 'n Wild Color Icon Bronzer in Reserve Your Cabana. People always wonder why this is considered a bronzer because it looks like pale powder, but one time I tried to use it all over my face as a powder and it was darker than my skin color! So I think it is kind of a joke. It is for people as pale as me who need to "reserve their cabana" because they are going to get a sunburn if they don't!

Those are the dupes I found. I hope you find this helpful if you don't to pay the extra money! Highlighters have been really popular it seems this last year.

Too Faced Chocolate Bar Dupes!!!

I heard about this palette a lot on Youtube, and I wanted to see if I could dupe it. These are the dupes I came up with and also some are from Temptalia (a popular blogger). Here is her post about the palette: Too Faced The Chocolate Bar Eye Palette Review, Photos, Swatches by Temptalia.

This palette is made out of cocoa, and literally smells like a chocolate bar!

The only bad thing about my dupes is I couldn't find a different dupe for Hazelnut and Black Forest Truffle.

1. Semi-Sweet: Lorac Pro Palette in Taupe (my dupe)

2. Haute Chocolate: Maybelline Eye Studio in Cozy Cashmere, 2nd color (my dupe)

3. Creme Brûlée: LA Colors Eye Shadows in Sunflower, 1st color (my dupe)

4. Triple Fudge: Benefit World Famous Neutrals Most Easiest Nudes Ever in Quick, Look Busy (my dupe)

5. Salted Caramel: Wet 'n Wild Vanity, 2nd color (my dupe)

6. White Chocolate: Wet 'n Wild Brûlée (my dupe)

7. Candied Violet: Wet 'n Wild A Great Glistener, 2nd row, 2nd color (my dupe)

8. Milk Chocolate: The Balm's Allegro (Temptalia's dupe)

9. Marzipan: Wet 'n Wild Greed, 5th color (my dupe)

10. Hazelnut: Wet 'n Wild Vanity, 6th color (my dupe)

12. Champagne Truffle: Elf Baked Eye Shadow in Pixie (my dupe)

15. Black Forest Truffle: Wet 'n Wild Vanity, 6th color (my dupe)

16. Strawberry Bon Bon: Benefit World Famous Neutrals Palette in Easiest Nudes Ever in Pinky Swear (Temptalia dupe)

Redhead Makeup Looks

This is a picture of my new hair! I got it dyed even redder! I'm not sure how I like it. People have complimented me, so that makes me feel good. I might want to dye it a lighter shade of red, like Isla Fisher.

I like her color of hair, and it looks natural. I am a natural redhead, but my hair has gotten darker as I've gotten older. I also would like something lighter for the spring/summer time.

These are looks I found that I liked for redheads. I've done a redhead blog post before. I have to find the link for you. http://beautydiversion.blogspot.com/2013/02/redhead-makeup-looks.html

The Elf Evil Queen Beauty Book was limited edition, but it is the only purply-pink blush color I have. It looks really nice on the skin. If you don't have it that's ok, you can use the Covergirl Rose Silk by itself. This would be a pretty date look. It is really natural. I say this is a redhead look because they used a redhead model. Cate Blanchett usually has blonde hair, but I found a picture of her with red hair.
