September Favorites

It has been one year since I first did a favorites blog post! A year went by so fast. I was looking back at my old posts and I still am using the things I listed as favorites. I looked back at my September 2011 post and I had forgotten I had taken my photos with fall leaves, so I decided to continue the tradition.

1. Essie Nail Polish in Ballet Slippers: This is a really pretty classic nail color. You can barely see I have nail polish on in the picture.

2. Revlon Nail Art Moon Candy Nail Enamel in Galactic: This is a two in one product. You first put on the dark navy color and then the blue glittery bits on top. They are chunks of glittery specks, not your normal glitter. Also, I didn't put on a base coat and it turned out to be so hard to remove the nail polish. I had blue nails for awhile after this. On the next nail polish I'm about to show you I put on a base coat and my nails weren't stained.

3. Revlon Nail Art Moon Candy Nail Enamel in Universe: This is a beautiful color for fall. It reminds me of the leaves changing color.

4. John Frieda Frizz-Ease Smooth Start Repairing Shampoo and Conditioner: I'm always trying to find products that will help ease the frizz in my hair. I heard about this I think from Amarixe's Youtube channel. I decided to give it a try. It does work at smoothing out my hair.

5. John Frieda Frizz-Ease Daily Nourishment Leave-In Conditioning Spray: I also heard about this from Amarixe I'm pretty sure. It's good to use this in conjunction with the shampoo and conditioner. I feel like it helps smooth out my hair too.

6. Too Faced The Return of Sexy Palette: I got this palette for my birthday and I really love the shadows. This is just a good, quality palette to have that I will use a lot.

7. Beauty Fixation Make Up Remover: I got this in my September Birchbox. These are really cool. You break off the ends and the ointment moves down the q-tip to the end where you can use to clean up your eye makeup.

8. Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder in Transparent: The powder that I normally use I felt like just wasn't cutting it. I was getting shiny during the day, and I wanted something to keep my face looking matte. I have heard about this from people on Youtube and I decided to give it a try. It works very nicely. It doesn't make you have a cake face either.

9. NYX Cream Blush in Natural: I heard about the NYX Cream Blushes from pursebuzz. She had a video about her favorite blushes. I decided to order some NYX products. These cream blushes go on so smoothly. This one looks very natural.

10. Covergirl Liquiline Blast in Brown Blaze: This is a dark brown eye liner. I love it because you can wear it on the lid and on the waterline. On one end it has a smudging tip, to smudge out the liner. It is really convenient and works well.

11. Covergirl Eye Enhancers in Tapestry Taupe: This is a beautiful taupe color. When a look calls for taupe, I usually choose this. It is really inexpensive, yet is pigmented. Some people have said it is a dupe for Mac's Satin Taupe.

12. Bare Minerals All-Over Face Color in Flawless Radiance: This is a mineral highlighter with a chiffon creme colored sheen. It looks really beautiful and subtle on the face.

13. Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circles Treatment Concealer in Brightener: I heard about this from EGheartsSSC's youtube video. She talked about getting the one that was the pink shade. I've been using it to correct my under eye circles. It works really well! Sometimes I put a concealer that matches my skin over the top of it and sometimes I just use it alone.

Autumn Perfume

Well, even though it is still warm here in Oregon, the first day of Autumn has passed, so this is the time of year when it is getting colder and the leaves are starting to change colors. I forgot to wear one of my autumn scents today, so I'm going to start tomorrow. Some of the perfumes are also considered other seasons because of the different notes it has. I looked up which notes go with each season. What I have found for autumn was that the notes that "go" with autumn are sandalwood, musk, amber, and jasmine. This is my collection of perfume that go with autumn.

1. UR for Women by Usher
2. White Diamonds by Elizabeth Taylor
3. Forever by Mariah Carey
4. Luscious Pink by Mariah Carey
5. Curious by Britney Spears
6. Fantasy by Britney Spears
7. Clean Warm Cotten
8. DKNY Golden Delicious
9. Givenchy Ange ou Demon le Secret
10. Jennifer Aniston
11. Juicy Couture Viva La Juicy
12. Viva La Juicy La Fleur
13. Paco Rabanne Lady Million
14. Philosophy Amazing Grace
15. Philosophy Love Sweet Love
16. Atelier Cologne Vanille Insensee Cologne Absolue
17. Harvey Prince Yogini
18. LIV GRN C2C Fragrance Collection in Earth
19. Body Fantasies Signature in Vanilla
20. Bodycology Fragrance Mist in Brown Sugar Vanilla
21. Paris Hilton
22. Oscar de la Renta Live in Love
23. Billionaire Boyfriend
24. Bvlgari Omnia Crystalline

I collect my little sample vials and keep them in this pretty pencil pouch I found. It has silver sparkles on it. It's hard to see in the picture but they are little flowers and the blue is more of a Cinderella blue color.

Elf Malefacent Beauty Book

My final palette I got with my birthday money was Elf's Malefacent Beauty Book. The theme of this is "Sinister Smoky Eyes." I love the names of the eyeshadows and the way they wrote the face charts. It is so funny! When I first saw these palettes I thought why would I want to look like one of these villains? But then I saw the makeup and the face charts and I saw how it could look pretty gorgeous. I still have to try them out, but when I do I will note how I like the different looks. For description of the makeup I copied from this blog: http://beautyblingonabudget.blogspot.com/2012/09/elf-disney-villains-collection.html She also has good swatches and review of each beauty book.

This book comes with false eyelashes, eight eyeshadows, eye primer, two lip & cheek color pencils, liquid eyeliner, a mirror, and two face charts.

Day Evil: For a strikingly spellbound look

Step 1: To ensure you are looking beautifully evil all day long, apply a thin coat of the eye primer to the eyelid and blend in. Allow the formula to dry fully prior to applying eyeshadow.

Step 2: Apply the lightest eyeshadow color "spindle" to the brow bone and "sceptre" to the inner corner of the eye to create a stunning highlight.

     Spindle: satin light pink

Sceptre: shimmery champagne with some gold undertones

Step 3: Blend the mid-toned eyeshadow color "fog of doom" onto the eyelid from lash line to crease to define the eye.

     Fog of Doom: mid-toned blue

Step 4: Apply the darkest eyeshadow color "fauna," to the outer 1/3 of the eyelid and crease blending as you go and building the color gradually to contour.

     Fauna: blue grey satin

Step 5: To finish off your look, apply the day lip & cheek color to the cheeks by dabbing on a few dots of color and blending in with your fingers. Line your lips and blend color in to create your magnificently magical look.

Elf Lip & Cheek Color: berry

Review: The shadows are really nice. They blend easily and are pigmented. I actually liked this lip and cheek color pencil better than the one that was in the Cruella book because of the creaminess of it. It didn't feel so much like I was using a hard pencil on my cheeks and lips. But the colors don't look good on me. I don't look horrible, but I wouldn't wear this look again. I think it is too cool toned for my coloring.

Night Villain: For a look that is ferociously fierce

Step 1: To create a look that will keep you looking petrifyingly provocative into the late hours of the night, apply a thin coat of the eye primer to the eyelid and blend in. Allow the formula to dry fully prior to applying eyeshadow.

Step 2: Apply the lightest eyeshadow color "misfortune" to the brow bone and inner corner of the eye to highlight.

     Misfortune: silvery gray

Step 3: Blend the mid-toned eyeshadow color "forest of thorns" onto the eyelid from lash line to crease to define the eye.

Forest of Thorns: gunmetal grey with silver shimmer

Step 4: Apply the deeper eyeshadow color "deep sleep" to the outer 1/3 of the eyelid and crease blending as you go and building the color gradually to contour.

     Deep Sleep: mid-toned purple

Step 5: Using the darkest eyeshadow color "diablo," blend a thin line along the crease of the eyelid to create a sinisterly smoky eye.

     Diablo: matte black

Step 6: Gently remove lash from tray and trim if needed to fit your eye. Apply a thin amount of glue along the entire length of the lash strip and allow glue to sit until tacky. Place the lash as close to your lash line as possible, working from the center out for an enchanting effect. Hold the lash in place until the lash strip has a chance to hold.

Step 7: Using the liquid eyeliner, apply a a thin line along the base of the upper lash line for an excellent effect.

Liquid Eye Liner: this is the only liner of any of the books that has shimmer

Step 8: To finish off your look, apply the night lip & cheek color to the cheeks by dabbing on a few dots of color and blending in with your fingers. Line your lips and blend color in to complete your villainous fairytale look.

Elf Lip & Cheek Color: plum

Elf Cruella Beauty Book

My third palette I got for my birthday was the Elf Cruella Beauty Book. The theme of it is "Evil Everyday Eyes." This is my favorite of all the palettes because it has neutral colors in it. Like my post for the Evil Queen palette I'm using descriptions from this blog: http://beautyblingonabudget.blogspot.com/2012/09/elf-disney-villains-collection.html She also has a good review and swatches, if you want to check that out.

The kit includes fake eyelashes, eight eyeshadows, eye primer, two lip & cheek pencils, liquid eyeliner, a mirror, and day and night face charts.

Day Evil: For a darling look that is perfectly wretched

Step 1: To ensure you are looking beautifully evil all day long, apply a thin coat of the eye primer to the eyelid and blend in. Allow the formula to dry fully prior to applying eyeshadow.

Step 2: Apply the lightest eyeshadow color "puppy love" to the brow bone and "coat of dreams" to the inner corner of the eye to create a devilish highlight.

     Puppy Love: matte cream

     Coat of Dreams: shimmery champagne

Step 3: Blend the mid-toned eyeshadow color "cruelty" onto the eyelid from lash line to crease to define the eye.

     Cruelty: satin sage green

Step 4: Apply the darkest eyeshadow color "sewage" to the outer 1/3 of the eyelid and crease, blending as you go and building the color gradually to contour.

     Sewage: shimmery mid toned brown

Step 5: To finish off your look, apply the day lip & cheek color to the cheeks by dabbing on a few spots of color and blending in with your fingers. Line your lips and blend color in to create a gorgeously cruel look.

Elf Lip & Cheek Color: baby pink

Review: I used my Too Faced Shadow Insurance instead of the Elf primer because I have used it before and I know the Too Faced one works better for my eyelids. I let it dry though like the instructions say to do. I put on my foundation, concealer, and powder. Then I put on the eye shadows like how it says to and the colors are so beautiful! I was really surprised. They also suited my eye color which is hazel. I thought it brought out the green in my eyes. The colors were soft, easily blendable, and pigmented. I put on mascara. For my cheeks I used to pencil and it felt like how you would imagine a pencil to feel on your cheek. It was hard and the color blended nicely but I couldn't really see it. I would much rather use a regular powder or cream blush. On my lips the pencil felt like a pencil. It was too dry, even after I used Burts Bees to moisturize my lips. The color was too pale, and I didn't like it. I decided to exfoliate my lips and put a lip balm on. I like to use Victoria Secret Pro Smooth FX Lip Scrub & Balm. Other than the lip and cheek pencil I like the look and makeup.

Night Villain: For a look as fabulous as a diva

Step 1: To create a look that will keep you looking captivatingly cruel into the late hours of the night, apply a thin coat of the eye primer to the eyelid and blend in. Allow the formula to dry fully prior to applying eyeshadow.

Step 2: Apply the lightest eyeshadow color "spotted" to the brow bone and inner corner of the eye to highlight.

     Spotted: shimmery cream color

Step 3: Blend the mid-toned eyeshadow color "maniac" onto the eyelid from lash line to crease to help define the eye.

Maniac: shimmery brown with golden undertones

Step 4: Apply the deeper eyeshadow color "little beasts" to the outer 1/3 of the eyelid and crease, blending as you go and building the color gradually to contour.

     Little Beasts: matte brown

Step 5: Using the darkest eyeshadow color "extinction," blend a thin line along the crease of the eyelid to create sharp darkness and depth to the eye.

     Extinction: shimmery dark brown

Step 6: Gently remove lash from tray and trim if needed to fit your eye. Apply a thin amount of glue along the entire length of the lash strip and allow glue to sit until tacky. Place the lash as close to your lash line as possible, working from the center out for an enchanting effect. Hold the lash in place until the lash strip has a chance to hold.

Step 7: Using the liquid eyeliner apply a thin line along the base of the upper lash line for the perfect accessory to your eyes.

     Liquid Eye Liner: black

Step 8: To finish off your look, apply the night lip & cheek color to the cheeks by dabbing on a few spots of color and blending in with your fingers. Line your lips and blend color in to create your devilishly dramatic and villainous look.

Elf Lip & Cheek Color: red

I hope you enjoy these posts. When I try these looks myself, I will add comments saying how I liked the looks.

Elf Evil Queen Beauty Book

My birthday was this month and with some of my money I decided to purchase all three of ELF's Disney Villainous Villains Collection. Each book cost $9.99. In case you want to dupe these books I will include a description of makeup item and the day and night face chart that is included. I have found descriptions from this blog: http://beautyblingonabudget.blogspot.com/2012/09/elf-disney-villains-collection.html She also has good swatches. I would take pictures of the makeup on my face, but I'm not very good with taking those kinds of photos yet, to really show how well the makeup looks.

I was so happy my Walgreens had these in stock. If you don't see them on display you should ask the people that work there if they have it or if they are going to get it. They can place it on hold for you, if it is still coming. My Walgreens didn't have them on display, but they had them hidden away. They were happy to get it out for me. They were actually eager to buy them for themselves!

This book includes: fake eyelashes, eyelash glue, 8 eyeshadows, eye primer, 2 lip & cheek color pencils, liquid eyeliner, and a mirror. This theme of this book is "Devious Dramatic Eyes."

Day Evil: For a deliciously enchanting look

Step 1: To ensure you are looking beautifully evil all day long, apply a thin coat of the eye primer to the eyelid and blend in. Allow the formula to dry fully prior to applying eyeshadows.

Step 2: Apply the lightest eyeshadow color "one bite" to the brow bone and "vanity" to the inner corner of the eye to create a radiant highlight.

One Bite: a yellow toned cream with satin finish
               Vanity: a matte cream color

Step 3: Blend the mid-toned eyeshadow color "narcissistic" onto the eyelid from lash line to crease to define the eye.

                Narcissist: a satin lilac color

Step 4: Apply the darkest eyeshadow color "potion" to the outer 1/3 of the eyelid and crease, blending as you go and building the color gradually to contour.

Potion: a deep satin plum color

Step 5: To finish off your look, apply the day lip and cheek color to the cheeks by dabbing on a few dots of color and blending in with your fingers. Line your lips and blend color in to create your gorgeously luscious look.

Elf Lip & Cheek Color for daytime: purple-y pink

My Review: I started off using my Too Faced Shadow Insurance instead of the Elf Eye Shadow Primer because I've used both before and I know Too Faced works better on my eyelids. I let it set, so I put on my face primer, foundation, concealer, and powder. Then, I applied One Bite to my brow bone. It is really pigmented and glittery. I felt like it was a little too much for day time. Then, I put on Vanity in my inner corners, but that wasn't pigmented at all. This is the first time I've tried an eyeshadow from one of the Villain Beauty Books where the eyeshadow wasn't good, so I was surprised. It just matched my light skin, so it might work for someone with darker skin. Next, I put Narcissistic on my eyelid. It is really pale, even for my skin! I was disappointed. Last, I put Potion in the crease and wow, this is so pigmented! It has a lot of red to it. I felt like I put too much on, so I used makeup remover to get rid of it. I also wiped off the eye brow highlight. The red made my eyes look bad. I decided to fix the problem by using Maybelline Expert Wear Amethyst Smokes' lid color on my eye lid. This is a really pretty purple, that is pigmented, and the color looks good on me. I blended it out in the crease area. I left my brow bone blank. I used the Elf Lip & Cheek Color for daytime and it went on creamy. I was afraid I wouldn't like the color, but it looks like a nice blush color. It also looked good and applied creamy on to my lips. First, I used Burts Bees Lip Balm. The finished look was good. I also applied mascara. Now I've tried all three day time looks and the one from this book was the worst quality I would say in eyeshadows. The lip & cheek color was good.

Night Villain: For a look that is sure to make you the fairest one of all

Step 1: To create a look that will keep you looking deviously charming into the late hours of the night, apply a thin coat of the eye primer to the eyelid and blend in. Allow the formula to dry fully prior to applying eyeshadow.

Step 2: Apply the lightest eyeshadow color "fairest of the land" to the brow bone and inner corner of the eye to highlight.

Fairest of the Land: a satin white

Step 3: Blend the mid-toned eyeshadow color "majesty" onto the eyelid from lash line to crease to define the eye.

Majesty: a mid toned purple with a satin finish

Step 4: Apply the deeper eyeshadow color "peddler's cloak" to the outer 1/3 of the eyelid and crease, blending as you go and building the color gradually to contour.

           Peddler's Cloak: a shimmery brown

Step 5: Using the darkest eyeshadow color "poison apple," blend a thin line along the crease of the eyelid to create a darkness and depth to the eye.

           Poison Apple: a matte black

Step 6: Gently remove lash from tray and trim if needed to fit your eye. Apply a thin amount of glue along the entire length of the lash strip and allow glue to sit until tacky. Place the lash as close to your lash line as possible, working from the center out for an enchanting effect. Hold the lash in place until the lash strip has a chance to hold.

Step 7: Using the liquid eyeliner, apply a thin line along the base of the upper lash line for a radiant effect.

            Liquid Eye Liner: black

Step 8: To finish off your look, apply the Night Lip & Cheek Color to the cheeks by dabbing on a few dots of color and blending in with your fingers. Line your lips for a red apple pout and blend color in to create your daringly dramatic and villainous look.

Elf lip and cheek color for night time: red

Review: I still would like to review the night time looks for each palette. I am not someone that goes out at night normally. I never wear fake eye lashes. These looks may be too dramatic to what I'm used to. I will still try them out. If I do go out on a date, I don't like to wear too much makeup, so it will be interesting to see how I like the looks, especially if I dare to wear the fake lashes!

Too Faced The Return of Sexy Palette

September 2nd was my birthday and with money I received I purchased four makeup palettes. The first one I got from Sephora via mail and I'm so glad to say nothing got broken in the mail! The Too Faced The Return of Sexy Palette is a beautiful palette I had my eyes on. I always pay attention when Too Faced comes out with a palette. This is my first time owning one. I always try to dupe them. If you want to dupe it, I'll include descriptions of each eye shadow and what each face chart says. I took pictures of the different looks on my face, but the pictures didn't turn out well. You can barely see the makeup on me. It doesn't show how beautiful the makeup actually does look. I got the descriptions of each eye shadow from Vampy Varnish's blog: http://www.vampyvarnish.com/2012/08/faced-return-sexy-palette-swatches-photos-review. She has beautiful pictures too.

It comes with 15 eyeshadows, a Perfect Eyes Eyeliner in black, a Shadow Insurance Eye Shadow Primer, and three face chart cards. I also included the blush and lip gloss I paired with the looks which if you are interested my favorite blush Milani Baked Blush in Luminoso and Revlon Super Lustrous Lip Gloss in Peony.

This is a description of each eye shadow and the eye chart that goes with it.

September Birchbox

1. It came with "The Fall Lookbook." It's like a catalog of stuff you can buy from Birchbox and it is also like a magazine that tells you how to do certain tricks and what is on trend.

2. Beauty Fixation Make Up Remover: "Fix any beauty goofs with these genius pre-filled swabs." I know I will use these.

3. Benefit Cosmetics Foamingly Clean Facial Wash + Refined Finish Facial Polish: "Purify your skin with this glycerin-packed cleanser and natural clay exfoliator." I like Benefit products, but I'm very happy with my skin routine.

4. Color Club Birchbox Custom Polish "Insta-This": "We teamed up with Color Club to create this custom shade, inspired by the Fall 2012 collections." I don't think I will ever wear this.

5. Dr. Jart+ Water Fuse Beauty Balm SPF 25+: "Think of this four-in-one moisturizer, serum, sunscreen, and skin-perfecting tint as the (extremely stylish) Swiss Army Knife of your beauty lineup." I might try this out.

6. Twistband Hair Tie: "Give your ponytail a makeover with these colorful, snag-free elastics." It looks pretty. I might use this.

7. Larabar Uber Bananas Foster Sweet and Salty Fruit & Nut Bar: "Consider these wholesome bars brain fuel: they're packed with fruits and nuts." I don't really like these kinds of bars. I might just give this to my Dad.

September Glam Bag

1. London SOHO New York Smudge Brush: This was bigger than the bag so it came inside the package, but outside the bag. It looks like a nice brush, but I don't really need another brush.

2. The bag seems to have good quality. It looks better than the other glam bags.

3. Inside the bag was another nail polish from Circus by Andrea's Choice. The color is a pretty purple called Tight Rope.

4. Carol's Daughter Monoi Repairing Split End Sealer: It says "Monoi Oil conditions, Carob Seed binds split ends, and Babassu Oil strengthens." I haven't tried this yet. I don't have split ends, so I don't know if I will really ever use this.

5. Mirabella Eye Shadow in Semiformal: This just came in a pot form, so I don't really like that. I will have to keep it in the paper wrap it comes in. It's a pretty color.

6. Jane Sparkle Gloss in Sparkle Pink: This is a really bright color. I don't know if it would look good on me. I'm glad to see Jane makeup coming back. I wish they still were sold at the drugstore.

Summer Perfume

I don't know about where you live, but where I live in Oregon it is still summer in September. We usually get "Indian Summers." I have organized my perfumes into the different seasons according to the notes in each fragrance. I researched what scents go with which seasons, and looked up the notes for each of my perfumes. I started to wear the perfume that goes with the summer season. I thought it might be interesting for someone. I don't own all of these perfumes. I have samples of a lot of them. I like the way all of them smell.

I also looked up where are good spots to place perfume on your body. It seems that the hot spots are the best places.
1. behind knees
2. wrists (don't rub them together)
3. chest
4. behind ears
5. insides of elbows
6. spritz in the air and walk through it, so your hair gets it
7. spray on hair brush
8. between breasts
9. neck

The best notes for the summer are:
1. rose
2. orange blossoms
3. raspberry
4. peach
5. honeysuckle
6. island flowers
7. sea salt

My summer perfume favorites:
1. UR for Women by Usher
2. White Diamonds by Elizabeth Taylor
3. Mariah Carey's Luscious Pink
