Coppery Fire Eyes Inspired by Kathleen Lights

So this look is based on the look Kathleen did for this chatty get ready with me using new makeup, including the new palette by Marc Jacobs Scandalust. I used my own shadows to mimic this palette. These are the steps Kathleen and I took to create this look. I'll show you what I did and a little of what she did. I love her personality, and enjoyed this video as well. She says how she is not a makeup artist, and I know she is not a professional but she is an artist in her own way, so I will call her a makeup artist.

1. Face Primer

2. Foundation

3. Concealer

4. Powder

5. Bronzer. She used a glory one. I payed close attention to how she bronzed up her skin. I want to make it look natural on me. I made sure to blend it out.

6. Blush. She used a couple products. I've been loving the Flower Pots Powder Blush in PB2 Peach Primrose. You can get Flower Beauty makeup at Walmart. I think this is a pretty summery color and looks good on my coloring.

7. The warm brown crease shade she used I found the dupe on Temptalia's website that I own which is in the Too Faced Semi Sweet Palette in Mousse. I put this in my crease and blended it onto the lid and outer v. She called this the transition shade.

8. Next she took the color Little Miss and put it on the outer lid, so I put a little bit of this and blended it inwards so that eventually the outer 1/3 of my lid had this dark shade on it. The dupe I found on Temptalia's blog was Sexy from The Balm Nude'tude Palette.

9. On the lid she put a red, fiery, copper metallic shade. I found in my own collection that Milani Bella Copper is really close and a drugstore dupe! I used my finger to apply the color. I put it all over my lid, but it didn't cover up the Sexy color that was on there.

10. She went back in with the shade similar to Mousse in the crease to blend out the lid and so you can see the crease when your eye is open. At least that's what I did because I have slightly hooded eyes, I wanted it to be a little above the crease.

11. She went back and intensified the reddish/copper shade, but I found that I didn't need to. It was already looking really pigmented.

12. She also went and added more of the Little Miss shade, but I didn't feel like I needed too because it was already looking pretty intense on my eye.

13. She put the Mousse color on her lower lash line.

14. Next she took the cranberry color on her lower lashes. I have an old Wet 'n Wild Palette called Petal Pusher that has a cranberry color that I used.

15. Very close to the lashes and kept on the outer corners she put Little Miss.

16. Next, she highlighted under the brows. You can do this if you want to. I went for it and took a light shimmery champagne color and put it under, but then I blended it out underneath the color. I used Too Faced Sugar & Spice in Champagne Truffle.

17. Mascara

18. I used the Champagne Truffle on my tear ducts.

19. She took a dark color and put a lip gloss on top to tone it down. I don't have the same shades, but I didn't want those colors. I wanted something that matched me and my eyes and my coloring, so I found a dark lip liner that I liked and put a peachy lip gloss on top of it and it went with the rest of my face.

Winter/Holiday Makeup Looks

Here are some looks I found and recreated using my own makeup. If I write about it, that means I liked the look. I just combined winter with holiday because they go together. Usually, the holiday looks are a little more glamorous, so you might not want to wear it for the day time. It might be better for a holiday party at night. I'm going to try to wear it in the day.

Pretty Makeup Looks

These are 10 makeup looks that I have found on Youtube and copied with my own makeup that have turned out to be pretty makeup looks. You can use whatever makeup you own, as long as you know what the color is. I try to match the color up as best I can. It may not be an exact dupe, but the look ends up looking similar in the end. I have so much makeup that I feel like I don't need to go out and buy even more makeup to recreate a look. Sometimes the makeup I use is lower in cost than the one from the original. My Thoughts: I thought this was a pretty, green eye shadow look. The girl was requested to do a makeup look using MAC's Greensmoke, and this is the look she came up with. The green color in Maybelline Mad for Mauve is a good dupe for MAC's Greensmoke. I like how the peach on the cheeks and lips go with the green shadow.

My Thoughts: I didn't wear any blush, bronzer, or highlight. The focus is on the eyes. The eyes are very dramatic because they are smoky and have black liquid liner with a wing, and a turquoise liquid liner on the lower lash line. The lips are a glossy light pink. For some reason the turquoise color reminds me of summer. (It is still summer when I wear this look.)

My Thoughts: The top row, 4th color is a really pretty bronze, and it is pigmented. The blush color goes with the bronze eyes. It is a warm toned blush, almost like a bronzer. The end result looks like fall to me, but the bronze makes it also look like summer. My lips are glossy because I used the Maybelline Elixir. I think her lips were more matte. I blotted my lips with a tissue, and it makes my lips look matte. This look is good on warm skin and redheads, even though smlx0 is a brunette with tan skin. After I put on the Wet 'n Wild lipstick I noticed how dark the lip liner was compared to the lipstick, so I used a q-tip to blend the lip liner into the lipstick.

My Thoughts: I love rose gold. I think that most of the colors used were similar. It created a pretty look in the end, which is all that matters to me. The caramel color I used wasn't very pigmented, so I don't recommend that. I would use a different color next time.

My Thoughts: The palette is using mainly the Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette. These are the colors I have to dupe the palette. I might do a separate blog post on duping the whole palette. The eyes are brown, the cheeks are hot pink so you should use a stippling brush, and the lips are a glossy nude. I don't know how much I like the lower lash line. I made sure to put mascara on the bottom lashes because the lashes were nuded out with the nude liquid liner. It is a pretty warm look if you have warm undertones in your skin.

My Thoughts: I got done doing the look and I thought it looked a little funny, so I decided to go back and watch the tutorial. Sure enough my eyes looked different from her's, so I cleaned off the crease color and just added the coral lightly to the crease, peaking out a bit to look more like here's. You might want to watch the video as you do the tutorial, so you will look more like her. She looks beautiful. The lipstick is a dead on dupe in my opinion. Also, I did a blog post on duping the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powders because these are much less expensive alternatives, and I think the results are quite good. Overall, this is pretty coral and mint look. Coral and mint look good together and remind me of the spring or summer. At the end I added powder to my face because she looked more matte than me. Maybe if you have oily skin you should put powder on first before applying the highlighters.

My Thoughts: The eyes are a smoky brown. They really look pretty. It is a lot of makeup, but the makeup all comes together to create a really pretty look. Leina is a good makeup artist and teacher. My Thoughts: This is an easy to do retro look. It makes you feel like Marilyn Monroe! It is considered modern because of the color on the lower lash line. I put eye primer on the lower lash line to bring out the eye shadow color.

Stila In The Light Palette Looks

For my birthday I got a gift certificate to Sephora and I got a couple of palettes, Stila In the Light Palette and Stila In the Garden Palette. I've seen it on Youtube and they both look like nice palettes. Stila in the Light has a shade called Kitten that I hear people talk about a lot. It is a really pretty color. I want to share with you the looks I have found that I liked. The palettes each come with a lookbook that has 6 looks. It also comes with the Stila Smudge Stick Waterproof Eye Liner in Damsel. What I added: Same as above except for blush I wore Milani Baked Blush in Luminoso, and for lips I wore Buxom Lip Gloss in Creamsicle (something else I got for my birthday).
My Thoughts: This is a sparkly dark blue on the eyes. It's a smokey look. I wore peachy coral blush and lips to complement the cool toned eyes. I really like the lip gloss. It plumps up your lips and smells like vanilla.

My Thoughts: This is another dark look for the eyes. So you can do a natural eye look with this palette and a dark smokey eye. I'm surprised I liked all the looks in the lookbook. Next I want to try out some looks I found on Youtube.
