Here is my look for today. It is pretty glamorous, but it was fun to do. I was copying a video by Dulce Candy.
I didn't have the same purple lip, so I used a plum gloss I have. I think that looks better on me than a purple lipstick would.
I made a video I put on Youtube showing step by step what I did from no makeup on my face to everything finished.
p.s...you can also see how I covered up the big pimple on my chin!!! I used Maybelline Master Camo Color Correcting Kit. The light kit comes with a green that will help cover red spots.
The Book of Unknown Americans by Cristina Henriquez: I am almost finished with this book. Every chapter is from a different perspective of people who all live in the same apartment building in New Jersey. They are all immigrants from a different country like Guatemala, Panama, Puerto Rico, Mexico, etc. The family from Mexico have a daughter who got into an accident after falling off a ladder so now she has a brain injury. The best school for her was in America, so the father found a job in a mushroom farm that would sponsor his Visa. The neighbor boy falls in love with her. It is a sweet story focusing on relationships like between a husband and a wife, a parent and a child, and first love. I haven't read the ending yet, and I am hoping it ends good. I'm afraid something bad will happen because there is a villain in the book. I don't want him hurting the girl from Mexico. Update: I finished the book and the ending is sad, but I still recommend this book.
Advent of the Savior, a Lifeguide Bible Study, edited by Cindy Bunch. My family and I started this study the week of Thanksgiving. We answer the questions on our own time. I help my mom write down her answers. She has arthritis and something wrong with her brain so she needs help to do it. I enjoy spending time with her, and doing something that is "deep." It reminds me of what it used to be like with my mom when she was well. The study is about the different perspectives within the story of Jesus. Week 1 talks about the prophecy of the messiah in Isaiah. Week 2 is the story of Zechariah and Elizabeth when Zechariah saw an angel. Week 3 is when Mary saw an angel. Week 4 is Joseph and the Angel. Week 5 is Jesus' Birth. The last week is when the wise men visit Jesus. I think this study is good to keep the mind on what is important this season: Jesus came to our world. A light shone in the darkness.
Children of the Day by Beth Moore: This is another Bible study I am finishing up this month. I did this with the Women's Bible Study group at my church. This is the first study I have done with them. I really liked it! It came with a DVD we watched once a week. It was very powerful. I felt like it helped us go through scripture in a way that related to us personally. It wasn't easy at times. She touched on some powerful topics like sexual sin. It was intense when we studied the end times and the anti-christ. One person said she had trouble sleeping after that study! There was about a week of lessons on being involved in a ministry and I felt like God was talking to me about how I could use my gifts somehow. I am looking into getting involved at my church. I used to teach Sunday School and I used to work at a school. I think I am gifted with children. I have to step out of my comfort zone and get involved even when it seems scary and unknown to me.
This is my swimming suit and swimsuit coverup/dress. They are plus size bought at Forever 21. I have enjoyed swim aerobics. I was nervous to go at first because I am overweight. It feels embarrassing sometimes to be in a swimsuit, but I just look at the other people and no one looks like a skinny model with a perfect body. It is fun listening to the music and doing the different exercises. We do aerobic workout at first. Then we do strengthening exercises with the floating weights. They float in the water. Next, we do exercises with the noodle. Lastly, we stretch. I like to get in the hot tub at the very end. It feels good on the muscles. The class is 3 days a week. I have been trying to go each time. I feel good when I do. I have been losing weight, so I know this is a good form of exercise for me and it isn't hard on the joints. It's fun!
These are the things I use at night generally.
1. Neutrogena Ultra Gentle Daily Cleanser: This is a nice, basic face wash. It is for sensitive skin. I got this at Ulta.
2. Aveeno Positively Radiant Night Cream: I use this at night for a moisturizer. In the day I like to use CeraVe. I got this at Walgreens.
3. L'Oreal Revitalist Eye Cream: I put this on at night too when I remember. You can also put this on before you do your makeup. It helps concealer go on better. I don't remember where I got this. I think you can find them at the drugstore where L'Oreal products are sold.
4. Up and Up Eye Makeup Remover: This is a cheaper version of the Neutrogena Eye Makeup Remover. You can get this at Target.
This is the stuff I use in the shower.
1. Loma Daily Shampoo: This was recommended to me from the lady that colored my hair. It has no sulfates, paragons or glutens. I like to have a lather in my hair, so you need a bunch of the shampoo to get a lather.
2. Enjoy Therapeutic Volumizing Conditioner: This is ideal for fine and thinning hair. It tingles a little bit and feels cooling on the scalp. I got this at Super Cuts.
3. Skintimate Moisturizing Shave Gel in Island Berry Breeze: This has vitamin E and olive butter. This smells good and makes my skin moisturized.
4. Dial Hibiscus Water Body Wash: This is so moisturizing. My skin doesn't flake off when I get out of the shower. I love this stuff. It has a floral smell.
This is my video on Youtube of me talking about my favorites for this month if you want to see me in action. Please leave a comment! I love to get comments. What was your favorite thing in November?
This is my look I'm wearing to the Thanksgiving party I'm going to today. I was inspired to do this by Stephanie Ledda on Youtube.
I used a cranberry matte berry on my lip. Revlon Ultra HD Matte in Kisses.
Here is the video I created...
This is what I did to get the look.
1. Warm light brown shade in my crease
2. Cooler more neutral toned matte brown in the crease
3. Dark matte chocolate brown, made a wing on the sides of my eyes. This part was tricky you might want to watch Stephanie's video or my video to see how to do this step.
5. Matte black on top of the chocolate brown wing
6. Beige shimmer on the eyelid part that isn't dark
7. Bronzer in the crease
8. Creamy white matte shade under the brow
9. You can use a makeup wipe to clean under the eyes and the edges of the wings.
10. Black liquid liner, upper lash line, small wing, a thin eye against the lashes
11. Gold glitter liner on the beige color on the lid
12. Mascara
13. Warm light brown shade used on the crease on the lower lash line
14. A little bit of the matte black on the outer corner of the lower lash line
15. Bronzer
16. Coral blush
17. Golden highlighter on the nose, cheekbones, above eyebrows, and in the tear ducts
18. Nude Lip Liner
19. Cranberry matte lip is what I used. Stephanie used a darker lip.
20. Setting spray
I hope you like my holiday look! I pray you are all blessed and well this time of year. May you have peace of mind and heart.
I found this old fall video by MakeupByAlli that I had copied the look in 2012. It was in one of my Fall Makeup Looks list on my blog. I have been revisiting these looks and copying them using makeup I have now. (I haven't kept all of my old makeup.)
Here is the video where I have copied or you could say learned from:
This look was not hard to do. Here are the steps I took to make this look.
1. She used the Anastasia of Beverly Hills Amrezy Palette. I don't have this palette, but I have similar colors. I used what I have. I'll list what she used and then I'll say what I used along side.
Vanilla, under brow - The Balm Balmsai Palette in Wipe Out
2. Makeup Geek Creme Brûlée - Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette in Salted Caramel. She mixed this with Caramel from the Amrezy Palette. My dupe for this is Too Faced Semi-Sweet Chocolate Bar Palette in Peanut Butter. She put these two colors in the crease.
3. Caramel, outer crease
4. Makeup Geek Purely Naked, inner lid - Milani Bella Eye Shadow in Cappuccino
5. Morocco, center of lid - Kat Von D Monarch Palette in Wrath
6. Lorac Pro Palette in Sable, outer lid - I have this palette. I recommend it.
7. Deep Plum - The Balm Nude'tude Palette in Sexy. She mixed this with LBD (Little Black Dress) from the Amrezy Palette. I have a matte black from an old Wet 'n Wild Palette called Greed. She put these two colors in the outer corner.
8. Morocco, over top dark color to blend it out. I skipped this step and just used a clean fluffy brush to blend it out.
9. Legend - Sephora Storylook Palette in Jasmine eyeshadow is Sand in the Glass. This is a pale golden beige shade slightly metallic. I put this in the tear ducts.
10. She used a black gel liner and blended it out with her finger. I used my matte black eye shadow and ran it along the upper lash line.
11. Mascara
12. She put on false lashes. I skipped this step. I still have not experimented with false lashes. I might get the Target Advent Calendar with comes with a pair of lashes. That might be fun.
13. She used the black gel liner to make a wing. I took my black eye shadow and made a wing, but one of my eyes started to water and was erasing part of the wing, so I decided to use my NYX Matte Liquid Liner in black to go over top the wings to make them more permanent. Using the eye shadow first made it easier for me to do the wings because using liquid liner seems so permanent.
14. Powder
15. Bronzer
16. MAC Peaches Blush - I used Flower Cosmetics Peach Blush. I don't know if this is a dupe, but it is a pretty peach blush.
17. Becca Moonstone Highlighter, top of cheekbones - The Balm Mary Lou Manizer
18. Nude glossy lips. I used a nude lip by Revlon, but when I took the picture it had all worn off.
Here is the look I did for tonight. It was copying a video made in 2009 by a popular youtube at the time named sayanythingbr00ke. I like how it came out. These are the steps to create the look.
1. MAC Painterly Paint Pot from lashes to brow. I used Jordana Continuous Almond Eyeshadow Pencil
2. MAC Naked Lunch, under brow. I used the pink e/s from Wet 'n Wild Walking On Eggshells
3. MAC Tete a Tint, transition color between the underbrow and the crease. She said this shadow is similar to MAC Soft Brown. I used the light brown shadow from an old Wet 'n Wild palette called Vanity.
4. MAC Deck Chair Pigment, lid. She said this color is similar to Stila Kitten or Urban Decay Sin. Also she wet the brush.
5. MAC Deep Damson, outer corner and outer crease. She said this color is similar to MAC Fig 1. I used from The Balm Nude'tude Palette the color Sexy.
6. MAC Maroon Pigment, outer crease. I used Sephora Cinderella Palette in Maiden.
7. She put Deep Damson on the lower lash line. I forgot to do that! I was going to go back and do it after I put on concealer.
I wore Maybelline Fit Me Blush in #15.
Urban Decay Lip Junkie Gloss in Midnight Cowboy
My look for tonight was inspired by a video on the Chanel channel on Youtube. A look created in 2014 by Lisa Eldridge.
I copied the look using eye shadows I already have in my collection that were similar to the Chanel shadows. I made another tutorial for youtube showing what I did on my face if you want to check it out.
Here are the steps I was following to get the same look...
1. Chanel Hesitation #106, lid: Wet 'n Wild Knock on Wood, eyelid color. A warm burgundy with a pearl finish
2. Chanel Pulsion #112, outer corner, lower lash line: Stila Improvise from In The Moment Palette. A deep neutral plum with a satin finish.
3. Chanel Exultation #108, center of lid. Urban Decay Spectrum Palette in Backlash. A cool fuchsia with a matte finish.
4. Chanel Admiration #114, inner corner. The Balm Balm Voyage Palette in D1. A warm yellow with a pearl finish.
5. Chanel Sensation #102, under brow. Urban Decay Mariposa Palette in Skimp. A warm beige with a satin finish.
6. Black Liquid Liner, upper lash line, wing
7. Mascara
8. Chanel Rouge Coco Shine Lipstick in Aura #96. I used Revlon Lip Butter in Sugar Plum.
9. Chanel Blush in Innocence #160. I wore Covergirl Cheekers Blush in Pretty Peach.
I had fun playing with my makeup today and filming another tutorial. This look turned out really pretty. I copied a video by Tanya Burr using cheaper makeup than her, but it still came out looking nice. I used Maybelline Color Tattoo in Bold Gold and put The Balm Mary Lou Manizer Highlighter on the top. I used NYX Matte Liquid Liner in Black. In the crease I put my bronzer and I also put it on the lower lash line. For lips I wore Revlon Lip Butter in Sugar Plum. Tanya wore a dark vampy lip. I think this suits me better. For blush I wore Milani Romantic Rose Blush.
Here is my tutorial, if you want to see it. I was so happy the liquid liner went on ok!
This is a look I copied from an old Tanya Burr video. It was really simple to do. Here are the steps...
1. MAC Vanilla, warm beige with satin finish, under the eyebrows. I used Too Faced White Peach from the Sweet Peach Palette
2. MAC Patina, warm gold with frost finish, eye lid. I used the 2nd eye shadow color from Wet 'n Wild Nude Awakening Palette. This was a limited edition palette, but you might have it like I do.
3. MAC Satin Taupe, warm taupe with frost finish, outer 1/2 of eyelid and outer part of the crease. I used The Balm Nude'tude Palette in the color Selfish.
4. Blend out the edges.
5. Bronzer in the crease. I used Benefit Hoola Bronzer.
6. Liquid Liner, upper lash line
7. Mascara
Lipstick: Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lip Color in Addiction
Here is the video I made of when I applied my makeup. I think it's fun watching people put on their makeup. Somehow it is relaxing to me.
