Summer 2014 Makeup Favorites!

I'm so happy for summer to be here! I love when the weather gets nicer. In Oregon that means less rain! I have done other blog posts for favorite summer makeup looks if you want to find some more in addition to these looks, look under the tag summer or summer makeup. I might do more posts of this topic this year depending on the amount of looks I find that I can dupe and that I think look good. I always try the look out on myself, and see how I like it. If I like it I write it down for the blog. I love finding dupes to makeup other people use from my own collection of makeup. When I use alternative things I will list it beside what the makeup artist used. I also say at the end my overall thoughts on the look. I try to sum up what the end result is. d. Aubrey 35 Design Gel Natural Style Management: I used a regular hair gel. About 2 dollops. Use a chopstick to make an air bubble so it will go in the bottle.

My Thoughts: It makes my hair naturally curly. The way it looks when I'm at the beach. It is really easy.

My Thoughts: I like this look. It reminds me of the beach. The colors used are like the colors seen at the beach. This is all using cruelty free makeup. It looks natural. After watching her video, I ordered the Pacifica products from their website. It shipped really nicely. I like this palette and the lip products. I didn't know this but Pacifica is made in Portland, OR (where I live)!

My Thoughts: This look reminds me of the spring. It looks like flower colors. There is a light purple on the eyes with yellow. The cheeks are peachy pink. The lips are a light pink gloss. But this can be good for the summer too. This is an example of a look using color, yet it is wearable. I love panacea's personality. She seems so sweet.

My Thoughts: There is nothing on the eyes except liquid liner. The cheeks and lips are orange. This is a pretty look if you have warm undertones. The tutorial is in another language, but I still duped it! I love newapplearial's makeup looks. I wish they were in English or I would dupe more of them. It is hard for me to dupe when I don't know what is being said or the name of the product.

Summer Favorite Makeup Looks Part 2

Here is my favorite summer makeup looks part 2! I have a lot of looks to try out this summer. I'm so excited to be done with work and have a vacation. I look at that picture and I long to go to the beach. I should book a hotel pretty soon because before long places get booked up. I love the Oregon beach. I would live there if I could.

In my tutorial list I include what the makeup artist used, unless it is foundation or something that I feel like is personal preference. Then I say where they used it, unless it is personal preference. I like to say where they put highlighter and bronzer because sometimes I forget or I like different ideas. Then I list what I used to dupe the makeup. Sometimes I use what the makeup artist used, in that case I don't say anything. You will see I will usually use a cheaper product. Sometimes it's not an exact dupe, but it is a similar color. I try to use what is already in my makeup collection. You can have an idea of a cheaper alternative, if that is what you want or you can use what you have that is similar to the makeup artist or what I used.

My Thoughts: I think it's good for a hot day because of the cream blush and eyeshadow. It is supposed to last longer that way. If I remember right, Lisa Eldridge used Revlon Pink in the Afternoon Lipstick when she did her Audrey Hepburn look. After seeing that tutorial I had to run out and buy it. It is now one of my favorite lipsticks. It is a pretty pink with yellow undertones.

My Thoughts: I like how this was drugstore makeup. I had most of what she used. I watched the video and used the same brushes as her, but I didn't do the outer v part correctly. It looks too dark, and I am having trouble blending it out. Maybe it's because I'm wearing an eye primer and she's not. Also, she has a darker skin complexion than me. It looks like a lot of makeup. I'm not sure I like it yet. I'm afraid my face will melt off during the hot day. It is pretty. It's just a lot more makeup than I'm used to wearing. The darkest color went outside of the invisible line between the end of the eye and the end of the eyebrow, so I got some tissue and makeup remover and cleaned it up. Then I took a fluffy brush and blended out the sharp edge of the dark shadow.

My Thoughts: I really like this look. Peach lips and cheeks, and a brown eye. The orange in the crease makes it look summery. Her routine for the face really made my face look nice. I first used NYX Shine Killer to help with shine during the hot day. I have combination skin.

My Thoughts: I love how this is waterproof and I like the colors. I have almost all the products too. I used foundation instead of bb cream because it lasts longer and doesn't look shiny on me. The Maybelline Color Tattoo stayed and so did the Revlon Lip Stain, but not the Revlon Illuminance Cream Shadows.

My Thoughts: The white in the waterline with the dark brown on the lower lash line is dramatic. It draws attention to the eyes, and makes them look bigger. I like the color of the blush with the color from Sea Sprite on the eyelid. I like the overall look. I hope it lasts in the heat. My Thoughts: There are a lot of steps, but it is all easy to do. Don't be overwhelmed! It's a lot of products in the inner corner! My favorite highlight for the inner corner was Hard Candy's High Maintenance. I prefer to put just one shadow in the inner corner. This is my first time using the Elf Shimmer Gloss. I love it! It smells so good, like fruit. It is also very beautiful. I got it in a pack of four at either Walgreens or Big Lots (I don't remember). I remember it was a good deal. It came with Very Berry, Pink Princess, Citrus Chic, and Ruby Red. I really like this look. It is the perfect summer face. The pink eye shadow is beautiful. I didn't know how I would like it, but it goes really nicely with the brown shadows. I didn't know if the look would be good on me because Melissa Michelle (the girl making the video) has completely different coloring than me. She is very tan with black hair and brown eyes. But the look looks good on me too, so I'm really pleased.

My Thoughts: When I did the upper lash line colors, I first took a deep gray color and lined my top lash line, then I tried to take a gold color and go over the line, but it didn't show up that well. It still looks good with just the dark gray. I didn't have a dark gray with gold in it. This look is really pretty. It looks like a summery look to me. The lips are bold, but I think it looks ok on me. I used the Milani Brow Fix Brow Kit in Light for the first time. I used a light hand because I didn't want to make a mistake on my brows. I tried to make it look natural. I used the angled brush that comes in the kit.

My Thoughts: I would skip the Nude'tude Sophisticated in the crease. I feel like I ruined the look by doing this. It looks better with just purples. Blend out the purple in the crease with just a clean brush. Revlon Lip Butter in Sugar Frosting looks like lip balm on my lips. It's not a good dupe for her lipstick. Overall, I think this look is so pretty. I love the purple on the eyes and peach on the cheek. The eyes really stand out. Since the days are hotter, my face has gotten more oily, so I am having to switch foundations. My foundation I'm using now is Revlon Colorstay Foundation for Combination/Oily Skin in Ivory. It is weird because not too long ago I was using Revlon Colorstay for Normal/Dry Skin because my skin couldn't even tolerate the other foundation on. My skin is definitely a combination. It needs to make up it's mind!

My Thoughts: If I could do it over again, I would have used a stippling brush for the blush. I put way too much on. This look has orange tones for the eyes, cheeks, and lips. It looks really summery. I think it is pretty for a redhead. I'm loving it. I feel like a beautiful peach! xD

The Balm Nude'tude Eyeshadow Palette Looks

In February Hautelooks.com was having a sale on The Balm, so I got The Nude'tude Palette originally $36.00 for only $18.00! I was so excited! I heard a lot of good things about this palette. I knew it would be something I would get a lot of use from.

Some of the looks I will mention are looks I have tried to dupe in previous posts, but now I can actually try them out with the real deal! I got several palettes off of Hautelook, but the palette that had the most tutorials on Youtube, was The Nude'tude. That is why I decided to make a post about it. I'm only mentioning looks that I liked. I hope you like them too!

Something to note! While I was trying out this look I noticed one of the looks said to use the color Schitzo. I don't have that in my palette! It is in the spot where Seductive is in my palette. It also looks like they are two different colors! So I guess there are different types of palettes. I've also noticed that some palettes have naked women in them (like mine), and some don't have women in them at all.

There have been so many holiday looks this year on Youtube. I think I might go into January with favorite holiday looks. I guess it makes the wintertime more exciting. My Thoughts: The gold and yellow green aren't very pigmented. I messed up on the liner. Don't use Covergirl Liquiline Blast in Brown Blaze, and use a q-tip to blend it out, not the smudgy end because it made the line too thick. This look is different than what I normally like, but I do like it.

My Thoughts: I used the black eyeliner on the lower lash line and then smudged it out with a q-tip. Then the line was too thick so I got makeup remover and made the line thinner. It seems like she put too many eye products on the lower lash line in my opinion. I don't think it was necessary to put the black eyeshadow on because we already have the Kumaon shadow on. I'm not used to wearing the gold glitter. I think it does look festive though. The red lips make me feel like Marilyn Monroe. This look may be too dramatic for day time, but I think I like it.

I wore Wet 'n Wild Walking on Eggshells eyelid, crease, and brow bone colors. For blush I wore L'Oreal True Match Super-Blendable Blush in Bare Honey. I ended up loving this look.

d. Covergirl Blast Flipstick Lipcolor in Vixen. Apply the burgundy cream shade to the lips, starting at the center and working outward toward the edges. Next, apply the mauve shimmer shade to the center of the lip only. Use the pad of your finger to blend the two shades together, keeping the shimmer shade concentrated in the center of the lip. I decided to buy this because I didn't have either lip color. I'm glad I did.
My Thoughts: The lip is bold. Wearing the lighter shade in the middle does make my lips look fuller! It is a cool effect. And the eyes are subdued so it doesn't look like I'm wearing too much makeup. I like it. I put Covergirl Cheekers Rose Silk Blush with it.

Pretty Makeup Looks Part VI

So I'm doing another pretty looks blog. I don't know if anyone reads these or finds them useful, but I might go back and use them myself if I want a new look that I know will be pretty. There are so many looks on Youtube. Sometimes it's hard to find ones that are good tutorials. And for me, I want a look that will end up looking good on me if I copy the steps. But that is subjective. What I think looks good on me, may not look good on everyone. I think also I learn from actually doing the tutorials, not just watching them. I guess that's the kind of learner I am. Sometimes the look is tricky and I watch the tutorial as I do my own makeup. This happens sometimes with the eyeliner looks. I'm still learning how to do that stupid flick/wing!

I'm going to bring it to the beach with me.

Pretty Makeup Looks Part V

I'm back with my pretty makeup looks. If you would like to see the first four parts they are in March. I've decided this time around I want to list the look, where to find the tutorial, and then list what I used as a substitution for certain makeup products. Quite often I used an inexpensive product where in the actual tutorial the makeup was more expensive. Sometimes I used a different product just because I didn't have the same thing they had, and I wanted to use my own stuff. I think all these tutorials are pretty easy, especially if you have good brushes. I recently purchased the Sigma Mrs. Bunny brush collection. I also have Real Technique brushes I got at Fred Meyers. I like Eco Tools which you can get a drugstores and Elf brushes.

My Thoughts: I think it looks pretty. The lips are a new look for me, but it looks good. I feel like I need a blush though. I'm using Milani Baked Blush in Luminoso because it is my favorite blush.

When I looked to copy I would figure out the color they were using, sometimes you can see it, they describe it, or you can google it and find a reviewer that tells you what the color is. Then you can find the match in your own collection. I think it's kind of fun. It also gives me ideas of how to do my makeup.
